Saifiur-Rahman Al-Mubarakpuri
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 504 | Size: 7 MB

A complete authoritative book on the life of Prophet Muhammad (S) by Sheikh Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarkpuri. It was honored by the World Muslim League as first prize winner book. Whoever wants to know the whole life style of the Prophet in detail must read this book.

Muhammad (S) is the Messenger of Allah, and those who are with him, are severe against the disbelievers, and merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and falling down prostrate (in prayer), seeking bounty from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. The mark of them (i.e. of their Faith) is on their faces (fore heads) from the traces of prostration (during prayers). This is their description in the Taurah (Torah). But their description in the Injeel (Gospel) is like a (sown) seed which sends forth its shoot, then makes it strong, and becomes thick and it stands straight on its stem, delighting the sowers, that He may enrage the disbelievers with them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous good deeds, forgiveness and a mighty reward (Paradise). (Al-Fath: 29)

The Prophet Muhammad (S) said: “The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth. Some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain-water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain-water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking (making their animals drink from it) and to irrigate the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah’s Religion (Islam) and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah (Azawajal) has revealed through me (the Prophet) and learns and then teaches it to others. The (last example is that of a) person who does not care for it and does not take Allah’s Guidance revealed through me (he is like that barren land).” (Al-Mukarramah) Continue reading

Ten Questions And Answers About The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

A brief book regarding Ten Questions and Answers about the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), Some non-Muslim westerners have been wondering what it is that Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) presented to humanity, particularly after the defamation of his honorable character by western media, and we deem it our duty to answer the questions regarding what our Prophet gave to humanity and the world.

Why did Muhammad marry several women? Did he do so for sexual gratification?

Whenever Prophet Muhammad’s name emerges, the image in many people’s minds is a man with many wives. For Muslims, his multiple marriages had meaning and immense implications for Islam, and by extension, the history of the world. Needless to say, the issue remains controversial, and as such, any study of the matter requires an objective approach. Therefore we will endeavour to tackle this topic by being as objective as possible.

The Prophet Muhammad was driven by the goal to ensure that his mission as the Messenger of God was fulfilled and to establish a society based on God’s commands, and not his own. In order to achieve this goal, he did everything that was humanly possible: he forged relations with the various tribes of Arabia, concluded peace treaties with his sworn enemies and kept relations with the heads of various tribes, nations and religions. Taken together his marriages was one way bywhich he fostered relationships with various influential tribes.

If one were to view the marriages of the Prophet from this context, the motivating factors behind his marriages become clear. It would be very simplistic and incorrect to view his marriages as being merely for lustful ends.

Let us now briefly examine the context of each one of his marriages to see whether this was the case. From the outset, it is of ultimate importance to note that, except for one of his wives, all of his eleven wives were widowed or divorced. Most were in fact widowed.

His first marriage was to a widow named Khadijah, who had been married twice and whom he married when she was forty years old and he was twenty five. She was the first woman to embrace Islam. She provided great consolation to him throughout his life and he continued to remember her in his later years as his most beloved wife. He stayed with her faithfully for 25 years until her death, at which time he was 50 years old, and she was 65 years old.

If he was driven by lustful desires as accused by his opponents, he could have married several, beautiful young women in a society where having numerous wives was a norm – there would be no reason to faithfully remain with an older woman until the age of 50. This single fact would be sufficient to totally refute the charges against him in this regard. However, an examination of all of his marriages, as we shall see, should put this question to rest.

After Khadija’s death, he married another widow, Sawda, who was 65 years old. She and her previous husband, Sakran, were among those who had immigrated to Ethiopia, fleeing from the oppression and persecution of the Meccans. It was during their return to Mecca that her husband had died. Seeing her difficult condition, the Prophet married her.

Then he married Aisha, daughter of his lifelong friend and companion Abu Bakr. Aisha had first been betrothed to Jabir bin Mut’im at the age of 5. Child marriages were evidently the norm at that time. She was the only virgin among the Prophet’s wives and the only one who was born into a Muslim family.

One of the Prophet’s goals in this marriage was to strengthen the bond of his brotherhood with Abu Bakr, who was his main defender against the Meccans. Second, Aisha was of a lineage known for honor and intelligence. The Prophet knew that she would tremendously benefit his nation (ummah) by transmitting crucial knowledge from his life, especially family and personal matters that others were not privy to. Indeed, the Prophet advised his community to learn half of the knowledge of the religion from Aisha. The foresight of the Prophet proved itself, for she would live for 45 years after his death, and thus became one of the main sources of Prophetic wisdom and knowledge.

He also married another widow, Hafsa, who was the daughter of Umar Bin Khattab, his next closest companion. Her husband, Khunays, had been martyred in the Battle of Badr. He felt a duty towards Umar, whose acceptance of Islam provided a major boost for the Muslims in Mecca against their foes. Continue reading

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)

http://futureislam.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/prophet-muhammad-peace-be-upon-him.jpg?w=507&h=648

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful

God says in His Noble Book:

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡذُونَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ۬

But those who hurt Allâh’s Messenger (Muhammad PBUH) will have a painful torment. [The Noble Qur'an Al-Tawbah 09:61]

You should know this man

You may be an atheist or an agnostic; or you may belong to any of the religious denominations that exist in the world today. You may be a Communist or a believer in democracy and freedom.

No matter who you are, and no matter what your ideological and political beliefs, personal and social habits happen to be. You must still know this man.

Encyclopedia Britannica confirms: “…a mass of detail in the early sources shows that he was an honest and upright man who had gained the respect and loyalty of others who were likewise honest and upright men.”(Vol: 12)

Bernard Shaw said about him: “He must be called the Savior of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it much-needed peace and happiness”. (The Genuine Islam, Singapore, Vol. 1, No. 8, 1936)

He was by far the most remarkable man that ever set foot on this earth. He preached a religion, founded a State, built a nation, laid down a moral code, initiated numerous social and political reforms, established a powerful and dynamic society to practice and represent his teachings and completely revolutionized the worlds of human thought and behavior for all times to come. His name is Muhammad.

Born in Arabia in the year 570 CE, he started his mission of preaching the religion of Truth, Islam (submission to One God) at the age of forty and departed from this world when he was sixty-three.

During this short period of 23 years of his prophethood, he changed the entire Arabian peninsula from paganism and idolatry to the worship of One God; from tribal quarrels and wars to national solidarity and cohesion; from drunkenness and wickedness to sobriety and piety; from lawlessness and anarchy to disciplined living; from utter bankruptcy to the highest standards of moral excellence. Human history has never known such a complete transformation of people or a place before or since – and imagine all these unbelievable wonders took place in just over two decades.

La Martine, the renowned historian, speaking on The Essentials or Human Greatness, said: “If greatness of purpose, smallness of means and astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad? The most famous men created arms, laws and empires only. They founded, if anything at all, no more than material powers which often crumbled away before their eyes. This man moved not only armies, legislations, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions of men in one-third of the (then) inhabited world; and more than that, he moved the altars, the gods, the religions, the ideas, the beliefs and souls … his forbearance in victory, his ambition, which was entirely devoted to one idea and in no manner striving for an empire; his endless prayers, his mystic conversations with God, his death and his triumph after death — all these attest not to an impostor, but to a firm conviction which gave him the power to restore a dogma. This dogma was twofold, the unity of God and the immateriality of God; the former telling what God is, and the latter telling what God is not; the one overthrowing false gods with the sword, the other starting an idea with the words.

Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images, the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire that is Muhammad. As regards all the standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?” (La Martine, Historic de la Turquie, Paris, 1854, Vol. II, pp. 276-277)

The world has had its share of great personalities. However, these were one-sided figures who distinguished themselves in one or two fields, such as religious thought or military leadership. The lives and teachings of these great personalities of the world are shrouded in the mist of time. There is so much speculation about the time and place of their birth, the mode and style of their life, the nature and detail of their teachings and the degree and measure of their success or failure that it is impossible for humanity to reconstruct accurately the lives and teachings of these men.

Not so this man. Muhammad, , accomplished so much in such diverse fields of human thought and behavior in the fullest blaze of human history. Every detail of his private life and public utterances has been accurately documented and faithfully preserved to our day. The authenticity of the records so preserved is vouched for not only by the faithful followers, but also by his prejudiced critics.

Muhammad, , was a religious teacher, a social reformer, a moral guide, an administrative colossus, a faithful friend, a wonderful companion, a devoted husband, a loving father – all in one. No other man in history ever excelled or equaled him in any of these different aspects of life – but it was only for the selfless personality of Muhammad, , to achieve such incredible perfection.

Mahatma Gandhi, speaking on the character of Muhammad, , says in Young India;

“I wanted to know the best of one who holds today undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind… I became more than convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet, the scrupulous regard for his pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission. These and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every obstacle.

When I closed the 2nd volume (of the Prophet’s biography), I was sorry there was not more for me to read of the great life”.

Thomas Carlyle, in his Heroes and Hero-Worship, was simply amazed as to: “How one man single handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation.”

Diwan Chand Sharma wrote: “Muhammad was the soul of kindness, and his influence was felt and never forgotten by those around him.” (D. C. Sharma, ‘The Prophets of the East’, Calcutta, 1935, pp. 12).

Speaking on the aspect of equality before God in Islam, the famous poetess of India, Sarojini Naidu says:

“It was the first religion that preached and practiced democracy; for, in the mosque, when the call for prayer is sounded and worshippers are gathered together, the democracy of Islam is embodied five times a day when the peasant and king kneel side by side and proclaim: God Alone is Great.

I have been struck over again by this indivisible unity of Islam that makes man instinctively a brother.” (S. Naidu, Ideals of Islam, vide Speeches & Writings, Madras, 1918, P. 169).

The world has not hesitated to raise to divinity, individuals whose lives and missions have been lost in legend. Historically, none of these legends achieved even a fraction of what Muhammad, , accomplished. And all his striving was for the sole purpose of uniting humanity for the worship of One God on the codes of moral excellence. Muhammad, , or his followers never at any time claimed that he was a Son of God or God-incarnate – but he always was and is even today considered as only a Messenger chosen by God.

Michael H. Hart in his recently published book on ratings of men who contributed towards the benefit and upliftment of man writes: “My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world’s most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels”. (M.H. Hart, ‘The 100: A ranking of the most influential persons in History’, New York, 1978 pp.33).

Today after a lapse of fourteen centuries, the life and teachings of Muhammad, , have survived without the slightest loss, alteration or interpolation. They offer the same undying hope for treating humankind’s many ills, which they did when he was alive. This is not a claim of the followers of Muhammad, , but also the inescapable conclusion forced upon by a critical and unbiased history.

The least you could know as a thinking and concerned human being is to stop for a moment and ask yourself: Could these statements sounding so extraordinary and revolutionary be really true? And supposing they really are true and you did not know this man Muhammad, , or hear about him, isn’t it time you respond to this tremendous challenge and put in some effort to know him?

It will cost you nothing but it may prove to be the beginning of a completely new era in your life.

We invite you to make a discovery of this wonderful man, Muhammad, , the like of whom never walked on the face of this earth. Continue reading

Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) Truly Is The Prophet Of Allah

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of the darkness and the light. I bear witness that nothing is worthy of worship but Allah, Who is Alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad (sws, salla Allahu `alaihi wa sallam: may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) is His slave and prophet. Oh Allah, let your peace be upon Muhammad (sws), the final prophet and messenger, his family, his companions and all those who followed him and upheld his traditions until the Day of Judgment.

Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, defends his prophets and preserves their position amongst all creation, whether in the present life or after their death. Allah Almighty singled out His prophet, Muhammad (sws), with special protection, due to the severe oppression he suffered during his call to Islam and also due to the slander and accusations which continue to proceed from every misleading and misled group as it aims to defame Islam, the religion which Allah has elected to be the correct belief for the whole of mankind.

Allah honored His prophet, Muhammad (sws), and raised him above all mankind by distinguishing him with outstanding moral features which could not have been found in any other human being. This research has compiled evidence, proofs, verses, signs and miracles (including the miraculous nature of the Quran) which combine to prove the prophecy of Muhammad (sws). Many brilliant scholars have studied this evidence (some of which is scientific), and become convinced of the Message of Muhammad (sws) and the trustworthiness of the Quran and Hadith (the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad, sws).

And the search is not over. With the progress of science, we may continue to discover more and more undeniable truths which have already been referenced in the Quran and Hadith. Yet, the fact that the Quran offered such detailed and accurate descriptions over 1400 years ago, when no one could possibly have had such precise knowledge, has made many knowledgeable people certain that the Quran is indeed a book from God (Allah), and that Muhammad (sws), who delivered these amazingly accurate statements, is a prophet sent by God (Allah).

This research presents testimony, in the form of statements, admissions and declarations, offered by prominent scholars and scientists, all of whom witnessed that Muhammad (sws) is the prophet of Allah. It also examines quotations from the previous Divine scriptures, the Torah and the Gospels, which prove the prophecy of Muhammad (sws).

This research provides a description of the morality of the Prophet Muhammad (sws): his character, behavior and way of thinking. This research has been composed and collected from many Islamic sources, and it ends with a brief exhortation. I ask Allah Almighty to accept this effort and all our good deeds. Allah says in the Quran:

بَلۡ نَقۡذِفُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلۡبَـٰطِلِ فَيَدۡمَغُهُ ۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ۬‌ۚ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡوَيۡلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ

This means, {Nay, we fling (send down) the truth (this Koran) against falsehood (disbelief), so it destroys it, and then falsehood is vanquished.} [Al-Anbiya 21:18]

The Message of Muhammad (peace be upon him)

It has always been Allah’s Way to send His messengers when the world is in need of them, and when people have strayed from the correct path that will connect them to Allah. Allah sends messengers when people have become corrupt, when they differ in opinion and quarrel, and when they are in need of a law to reform their beliefs and connect people with one another in harmonic and intimate unity. Only at that point would people be properly able to thank their God for the blessings He granted them, for sending them a prophet with pure beliefs, noble morals and a straight-forward system of legislation, based on truth, virtue and justice. Allah says:

It means, {O Prophet! Lo! We have sent thee as a witness and a bringer of good tidings and a Warner, and as one who invites to Allah (grace) by His leave, and as a lamp spreading light.} [Al-Ahzab 33: 45-46]

And He says:

It means, {He will enjoin on them that which is right and forbid them that which is wrong. He will make lawful for them all good things and prohibit for them only the foul; and he will relieve them of their burden and the fetters that they used to wear.} [Al-A`raf 7: 157] And He also says:

كَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيڪُمۡ رَسُولاً۬ مِّنڪُمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡكُمۡ ءَايَـٰتِنَا وَيُزَكِّيڪُمۡ وَيُعَلِّمُڪُمُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبَ وَٱلۡحِڪۡمَةَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُم مَّا لَمۡ تَكُونُواْ تَعۡلَمُونَ

It means, {Even as We have sent unto you a messenger from among you, who recites unto you Our revelations and causes you to grow, and teaches you the Scripture and wisdom, and teaches you that which ye knew not.} [Al-Baqarah 2: 151] Continue reading

The Prophet was a great man; he built up this greatness through his confidence and steadiness on his principles. He was of good manners and fair deeds with all people; enemies and friends. In addition to that, modesty and flexibility were of his great qualities away from complexity and arrogance.

With Himself

The Prophet was a great man; he built up this greatness through his confidence and steadiness on his principles. He was of good manners and fair deeds with all people; enemies and friends. In addition to that, modesty and flexibility were of his great qualities away from complexity and arrogance.

- He was frank with himself and satisfied with his principles. He had specific targets and a clear vision.

-He held on his principles till he conveyed his divine message spreading all his noble principles which are not known by those who hate and vilify him.

- He owned all the good qualities of a person gained by innate and all the characteristics of human perfection wished by the wise.

- Handsome features are mixed with noble manners and wise mentality to form a teacher who awakened the world like the sun enlightening darkness. He gave live to all human beings after being buried for ages and ages under ignorance and selfishness.

With his Family

The observer of the private life of Muhammad the Messenger, will admire the man who came from a harsh desert environment prevailed by ignorance and anarchism, and wonder “how could he reach the highest levels of incomparable family success?” Muhammad (PBUH) was an inexhaustible stream of love, warmth, tenderness, sensitivity and emotions.

He was the perfect lover to his family and wives. He was playing and joking with them. He was giving them love and tenderness; for example, he was expressing gently his love to his wife Aisha by intending to drink from the same cup she drank from putting his lips on the place from which she drank sending a secret message warming up her heart and feelings. This was just one example from many in his life.

He even represented the loyal lover in a happy family. He did not forget his dead wife khadeeja, but he kept remembering her favors by having good relations with her relatives. He was very angry when khadeeja was disparged in his presence. Abu najeeh narrated in the story of Hala –khadiga’s sister- when Hala asked for permission to meet the Messenger, Aisha said” Allah gave you the young wife instead of the old one-she means khadiga-”. So the Messenger became very angry till she said” I swear I wont mention her after now except in a good way”.

In spite of Muhammad’s heavy burdens as being the chief of the Islamic state, the commander of the army and the moral and intellectual guidance to his followers, he did not forget his duties towards his family by helping them in the housework, showing that woman has a great value in Islam.

Al Aswad reported that he asked Aisha (the Prophet’s wife) about what the Messenger had been doing in his house. She replied that he was serving his family and when the time came to pray he left to prayer.(Narrated by Al Bukhari)

Muhammad the Messenger, the Man of Right and Justice

He loved right and justice and ruled according to this. He did not fear to be blamed because of applying justice. He did not flatter any one for his rank, money or his pedigree, in the contrary, he supported the weak and stand against the strong in giving them their rights back.

He was so fair and stick to the right to the extend that he did not flatter even the dearest people to him. It happened that an eminent woman from the Family of Mekhzoum- (a great family in Makkah at that time )- stole, so she deserved a punishment for her crime. Her family went to one of the Prophet’s followers
- he was the dearest to him- to ask the Prophet for forgiveness.

When Muhammad (PBUH) listened to the request of his dearest friend to forgive this woman, he became very angry because of breaking and infracting the holiness of justice after he had become a Muslim.

Aisha said that Quraish was very concerned about the woman of the family of Makhzoum who had stolen so they thought that no one dare to speak with the Messenger in this case except Osama bin Zeid, the dearest to the Messenger. Osama talked to the Messenger, who had replied: “do you mediate in one of Allah’s laws? Then he stood and gave a speech telling the people that the nations living before them were destroyed because they didn’t punish the eminent but did only punish the weak when committing any crime. And he swore if his daughter Fatima stole, he would punish her. Continue reading

A Scientific and Material Speech to this who does not believe in Muhammad the Messenger of Allah

Mocking Allah, His verses and His Messenger has become a normal thing nowadays and it comes in most cases from abroad, where atheists claim that Islam is a religion of underdevelopment, terrorism and ignorance. That›s why the enemies of Islam continued to mock its teachings, claiming that they have become out of date and do not fit the times!

Glorified be Allah! Has freedom of expression become, from their point of view, their freedom to mock the greatest creature of Allah (PBUH)? However, apparently, those have not found any scientific thing to criticize Islam for; thus, they tended to use these desperate cartoons. They failed to extract any scientific or linguistic mistake from the Noble Qur›an or the ahadith (speeches) of the greatest Messenger to convince their followers about it, except these cartoons, which reflect their bankruptcy.

We have the right to express our opinion about such things, but, we do not mock their prophets, Moses and Jesus, peace be upon them, as they are quit of them and their deeds and because we do not differentiate between these honored prophets, as they are all messengers from Allah (Exalted be He). But, before doing so, let›s listen to this saying of Allah (Exalted be He) about those people and the like of them:

«Surely the ones who hurt Allah and His Messenger, Allah has cursed them in the present (life) (Literally: the lowly (life), i.e., the life of this world) and the Hereafter, and He has prepared for them a degrading torment *** And the ones who hurt male believers and female believers, without that they have earned it, then they have readily burdened themselves calumny and evident vice» [Surat Al-Ahzab: 57-58].

These cartoons hurt Allah and mock His Messenger and represent a severe hurt to every male and female believer. That›s why the likes of those are promised a painful torment on the Day of Judgment, if they do not stop doing such act.

Our style of expression will be more severe and enduring than theirs, which is no more than cartoons that do not reflect anything except illusions existing no where but in the imagination of their author. We will address those (people) in the language of science, which they failed to use in addressing us! And we will tell them the reality of that merciful Prophet (PBUH).

I am not going to talk about the good manners and the wonderful attributes that the final Prophet had, because those do not have these manners and do not recognize it, but, we will direct a scientific and material speech to them, including the facts that this honored Prophet brought with him and are present in the Qur›an and recited fourteen centuries ago and up till now. I tell those, who are proud of science and justice, because they represent technically advanced countries and they are democratic countries that believe in justice and rights, we say: the Qur’an, which you mock, was the first book to call for science and justice, and these two are the measures of success and continuity of any civilization.

Indeed, the first word sent down to that honored Prophet was «read» and this proves that Islam is the religion of science. While, the last word sent down of the Qur’an was «they will not be done injustice» and this proves that Islam is the religion of justice. Thus, what you boast today, our Prophet (PBUH) preceded you to it long centuries ago.

You say that you are the first to call for searching the history of universe and creatures and you are proud of this, but we ask you to read the saying of Allah (Exalted be He) in the Noble Qur›an, about an explicit and direct call to investigate the beginning of creation: «Say, “Travel in the earth, then look how He began creation. Thereafter Allah brings into being the last bringing up. Surely Allah is Ever-Determiner of everything» [Surat Al-Ankabut: 20]. This proves Qur›an›s interest in investigation, contemplation, research and study.

Indeed, our Prophet (PBUH) has set a scientific basis for astronomy and cosmic phenomena, when people thought the sun eclipsed for the death of Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet (PBUH), so he said: (the sun and the moon are two signs of Allah’s (Exalted be He) and they do not eclipse for the death or life of anybody). [Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

These words of the Prophet of mercy (PBUH) came at a time when you used to believe that eclipse is an indication of the birth of a great person or his death, the fall of a governor or the loss of a battle.

At a time when Europe was full of priests, astrologers and charlatans and those were believed by most people then. At this time, our Prophet (PBUH) prohibited such acts as he said: (anyone who goes to a priest or a fortuneteller and believes him in what he says, he has disbelieved in what was sent down to Muhammad) [narrated by Ahmad].

At the time when you thought that the earth is stable and immobile, the Qur’an set a scientific fact confirming that everything in universe rotates in a specific orbit and this fact was not discovered except recently. He (Exalted be He) says about the earth, the sun and the moon: «and each is swimming in an orbit» [Surat Ya-sin: 40]. Continue reading

The Civilized Principles In The Prophet’s Biography

Thanks are due to Allah, the One, and peace and blessings be upon his final Prophet (PBUH ), his family and his Companions.

Allah the Almighty created both humans and the jinn for a great objective, that is, the realization of voluntary worship and servitude to Him alone. Allah says in the Noble Qur’an what can be translated as «And in no way did I create the jinn and humankind except to worship Me.» ( 51:56) As human minds are short of knowing the attributes of the Creator, their duties towards Him, His rewards for the obedient, and His punishments to the disobedient, He chose the perfect persons, both physically and morally, to deliver His Message and guide the people to His right Way. Allah says in the Noble Qur’an what can be translated as «Allah knows best where He makes His Message.» (6:124)

Allah has not sent an angel who always worships or another creature that is always playful and self-indulgent. The reason is that the objectives of the divine Message are the rehabilitation of man to be able to carry out his task as a successor on Earth, that is, to worship Allah and cultivate the Earth according to the divine method.

Therefore, Allah’s Messengers and Prophets (PBUH) were humans who eat food and walk in the markets, who marry and have children, who are perfect but human. Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH ) was in no way an innovation among the Messengers and was no exception. Allah says in the Noble Qur’an what can be translated as «Say, ‘ Surely I am only a mortal the like of you: it is revealed to me that surely your God is only one God « (18:110) Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was endowed with unique attributes so that he taught humanity how to worship Allah, guided them to abide by the best of morals, and showed them, through his good policy and justice, how to navigate their worldly interests.

However, media may mislead some people who believe in the veracity of everything written or broadcast while it is devoid of any fairness or objectivity. These misleading media may cause people to believe what is being said about the so-called demerits of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is the duty of every person not to take this misleading information for granted and to ask the true scholars and refer to the historical facts that prove the true image of the Prophet (PBUH).

The reason for writing this research is the phenomenon of insulting Islam and Muslims and debasing their sacred symbols, rituals, and legislations. This comes in the form of systemized fierce campaigns led by politicians and religious scholars and supported by media. The cause of these campaigns was the abusive caricatures published by the Danish newspaper Jyllads-posten . These caricatures depicted Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a lascivious person or a bloody killer who is devoid of any of the values of humanity or civilization. The same caricatures were later published in French and Norwegian newspapers.

The reaction was an uncontrolled anger on the part of Muslims all over the world. Demonstrations were organized, speeches were delivered, conferences were convened, and flags were burnt. Despite our objection to any form of violence, all these activities lack the simplest criteria that the true support of the Prophet (PBUH) must have. Supporting him is not a matter of temporary anger and aimless demonstration; it is not cursing those who insulted him or those who did not support him. To really vindicate the Prophet (PBUH) we should follow a scientific methodology that addresses both the minds and the hearts.

This methodology should benefit from the effective ways that aim to maximize the interests and minimizes the negative points. It should not be an idealistic methodology in an ivory tower that does not abide by any shariah rule or a human interest and the result would be it fires against us before the enemy.

This vindication should be comprehensive to include every fair person from among Muslims and non-Muslims. Scholars, rulers, traders, etc shall each has his own rule. Vindicating the Prophet (PBUH ) is an obligation.

This vindication should continue during our life. First, we should support him within ourselves through following his instructions and sunnah and leave all bid ’ ahs in order to be gathered with him and his great Companions on the Day of Judgment, to have his intercession, and to drink from his hand for one time after which we shall never be thirsty again.

This scientific research regarding the doubts about his polygyny, jihad, and attributes is a humble contribution to the vindication of the Prophet (PBUH). I ask Allah, the Ever-Exalted and the Omnipotent, to accept this and make our scales weigh heavy on the Day of Judgment. Continue reading

Our Morals Following The Prophet’s Path

Alhamdulillah and all praises be to Allah, the Bestower of benevolence, bounty and generosity to his servants. He is the Giver of countless blessings to all creatures and creations. He is the Generous and the Benevolent whose graces are visible and invisible. Thanks and praises to him at the beginning and at the end. All thanks be to Allah. We give gratitude to Him, we seek His help and guidance, and we ask for His forgiveness.

Praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds, we glorify Him, seek His help, ask for His forgiveness and return to Him in repentance to Him. We seek refuge in Allah the Almighty from our faults and iniquities. He whom Allah guides, is rightly guided, but he whom Allah sends astray, you will find no guide for him. I bear witness that no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him) is the servant and messenger of Allah.

We thank Almighty Allah and all the Praises and Blessings be on the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the master of the messengers, the imam of the pious and the final prophet. He is the final messenger, the leader of goodness and the messenger of mercy.

Having good manners is a trait of the prophets, truthful and righteous people. High degrees and ranks are achieved by following good manners. Almighty Allah devotes a verse in the Qur’an about the manners of the Prophet (PBUH), it relates all the high morals and best of manners to the Prophet (PBUH). Allah says in the Qur’an: “And verily, you (O Muhammad) are on an exalted standard of character.” (Al-Qalam: 4).

Having good manners in Islam is of a high status and favorable position. There are many texts that praise the good behaviors and encourage following and adhering to them. The Prophet (PBUH) said: “The believers with the most perfect faith are those with the most perfect conduct and manners. And the best ones amongst you are those who are best to their families.” (Al-Tirmidhi) The Prophet (PBUH) said: “Mankind has not been given anything better than good manners.» (Sahih al-Jami’)

Narrated Anas Ibn Malik (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said to him: «I command you to be of good manners and remain silent for long periods of time, because by Him whose hand is in my soul, the creation cannot beautify themselves with anything better than these.» Good manners mean smiling at people’s faces, helping them, doing goodness, treating people with kindness, and not to hurt anyone. In short, they are every positive conduct by Muslims such as good words, forbearance, anger suppression and forgiveness.

Now let’s look at the great reward and absolute goodness of people with good manners:

* Having good manners and character is the heaviest good deed in your Balance according to what the Prophet (Peace Be upon Him) said: «Nothing will be placed in the Balance (in the Day of Resurrection) heavier than good conduct.» (Al-Tirmidhi no. 2003; al-Albany no. 5721, classified it as Hadith Sahih)

* Having good manners and character makes you the most beloved and closest to the Prophet (PBUH) in the Day of Resurrection. The Prophet (PBUH) said: «The most beloved of you to me and the closest of you to me in the Hereafter are those of you who have the best manners; the most hated of you to me and farthest from me in the Hereafter are those of you who have the worst manners, those who speak and do not even care about what they are saying» (Sahih al-Jami)

* Having good manners and character is the way to enter Paradise and reach the highest status in Paradise. The Prophet (PBUH) said: “I am a leader, in a house in the lowest place of Paradise, of the people who leave the argument even they were right. I am a leader, in a house in the middle of Paradise, of the people who leave the lies even though I was a joke. I am a leader, in a house in the highest place of Paradise, of the people who have high morals.” (Narrated by Abo Dawood, hadith no 4800, approved by Al Albany in Sahih Attargheeb, hadith no 2648)

* Having good manners and character will enable the Muslim to reach by them the rank of the person who always prays at night and fasts during the day. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: «The person of good manners will get the same reward as the person who prays during the night and fasts during the day» (Sahih Al-Jami)

* In another hadith the Prophet (Peace Be upon Him) mentions the reward for one who is a musaddat, the one who is always trying to fill in the gaps between other Muslims by being social, friendly, and having good manners. He (PBUH) said: «The Muslim who is musaddat reaches the darajat as-sawwam al-qawwam.» Sawwam is the one who continually fasts and the qawwam is the one who continually stands in prayer. So the Muslim who is very social, has good manners, and is fulfilling the rights of his brothers reaches the level of the one who continually fasts and prays just because of his good manners.

My dear Muslim brothers and sisters! How many good deeds have we missed by our heedlessness of the greatness of good manners? This is an invitation to get the highest rank in the present life and in the Hereafter by following the best conduct and praised attitude. We should lead and encourage ourselves to follow good manners and strive for having them. By this, we will be following the best human and greatest role model of humanity, the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him). We should follow his example of how he treated his wives, his children, his neighbors, his companions, the Muslims and even disbelievers and infidels.

In this series “Our Morals following the Prophet’s Path,” we will talk about a number of the highest morals that Islam urges people to follow to get the highest reward and rank. Continue reading

Why Do We Study The Prophet’s Biography?

http://futureislam.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/why-do-we-study-the-prophet-s-biography.jpg?w=450&h=395

Yahya Bin Ibrahim Al-Yahya

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) is the practical image of Islam. There is no way that one can get to know Islam without knowing Allah’s Messenger (PBUH); his guidance, work, instructions and prohibitions.

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) made peace and war, settled and traveled, sold and bought, took and gave. He never lived alone, neither did he travel alone.

Muslims had weakened only because they failed to follow his pattern and guidance for the Almighty Allah said: ﴾Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much﴿ (Al-Ahzab:21).

Some Muslims went to the extent that they only read his biography (PBUH) during celebrations and forums without following his guidance. Some others read it either for obtaining blessings or for getting familiar with its events; wars, days…..etc. This happens due to one of two reasons:

First: their ignorance of the principal of following his pattern & guidance (PBUH) and not knowing that this is a necessity for achieving his love.

Second: their failure in perceiving the positions of guidance in his biography due to a weakness in their sense of conclusion or due to their lack of knowledge and readings. Here lies the importance of deriving the lessons and benefits from his biography (PBUH).

The biography of the Prophet (PBUH) is not meant to be taught for the pleasure of reading nor for the knowledge of a certain historic period and not for the love of studying the biographies of the grand and heroes. Such kind of superficial study is performed by non-Muslims. A Muslim should have various aims from studying his biography, among which are;

First: Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) is the one to be followed for he is the example for all Muslims:

He is the legislator whom we are instructed to follow, for Allah says: ﴾Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much﴿ (Al-Ahzab:21); Allah (the Almighty) says ﴾If you obey him, you shall be on the right guidance﴿ (Al-Noor:54); Allah also says ﴾He who obeys the Messenger, has indeed obeyed Allah﴿ (Al-Nissa:80).

And Allah also says ﴾Say if you really love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive your sins﴿ (Al-Imran:31). He is the practical image and incarnation of Islam without whom we can not possibly know how to obey the Almighty Allah or worship Him.

From his biography the scholars derive the techniques of the Call and its phases. They also get to know the tremendous effort exerted by Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) for the sake of raising the word of Allah and how he reacted in facing the hardships and obstacles that faced him.

# From his biography, teachers can derive the methods & techniques of education.
# From his biography, rulers can derive systems and methodology of leadership.
# From his biography, the ascetics can derive the meaning and essence beyond being an ascetic.
# From his biography, traders can derive the aims, systems and methods of trading.
# From it, those who are suffering can learn the highest degrees of patience and persistence, thus their determination can grow stronger and their trust in Allah increases knowing that the result will be finally in their favor.
# From it, the scholars derive knowledge which enables them to better understand the Book of Allah (Al-Quran) and the various sciences of Islam, among which are the abrogating and abrogated verses, the reasons behind the revelation of verses and many other knowledge.
# From it, the whole nation derives the morals, manners and merits.

Ibn Katheer said « a special care and attention must be paid to such type of study (the biography of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH)) as it was narrated by Omar Al-Wakedi that Abdullah ibn Omar ibn Ali said that his father heard Ali ibn Al-Hussain saying: «we used to know the conquests of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) as we know the verses of the holy Quran».

Al-wakedi said, I heard Mohamed ibn Abdullah saying that he heard his uncle Al- Zuhri saying «in the science of conquests, lies both the science of life and that of the hereafter.»

Ismail ibn Mohammed ibn Saad ibn abi Wakkas said « my father used to teach us the conquests of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) and repeated them to us saying: «these are the glorious deeds of your fathers so waste them not».

History had witnessed many kings, leaders, poets and philosophers but none of them had left behind such a biography and such pattern to be followed as it is with the Prophet’s. History had wiped off all their credit and the only thing left is some of their names.

Biographies of many grand people had turned out to be mere jokes throughout history. Where is Namroud who said to Ibrahim (PBUH) ﴾I give life and cause death.﴿ (Al-Baqara:258). Where is Pharaoh who said: ﴾I am your lord, most high.﴿ (Al-nazia’at:24), and what was his destiny» he who also said: ﴾I know not that you have an ilâh (a god) other than me.﴿ (AL-Qassas:38).

Those grand people of their ages are now being mocked by everyone; the young and the old, the knowledgeable and the ignorant, for if they had succeeded in deceiving their people at their time, their deception has been revealed and they became a mockery throughout time.

The biography of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) had provided the means for getting the people out of the darkness of polytheism and the corruption of worship to the light of monotheism and faith in Allah (the Almighty) who said: ﴾O Prophet ! Verily, We have sent you as witness, and a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner And as one who invites to Allah by His Leave, and as a lamp spreading light.﴿ (Al-Ahzab:45-46). Continue reading

The Prophet As A Husband

All of us wonder about the way the Messenger (PBUH) was with his wives. How he dealt with them? How he treated them equally?

The Prophet accomplished the happiness to every one of them; that is because he knew how to deal with women. He penetrated deeply into her sensitive soul and he went on apostrophizing her with the warmth of passion and assisted her to work for her religion and life.

How was the Prophet treating his wives?

What was the Prophet’s way in treating his wives? How could he treat them equally?

The Prophet (PBUH) accomplished the happiness to every one of them; that is because he knew how to deal with women and he penetrated deeply into her sensitive soul and went on apostrophizing her with the warmth of passion and assisted her to work for her religion and her life.

And what about his wives-the Mothers of all believers -? If we searched to know about their lives, we will find that most of the books describe the Prophet’s wives with a common quality; fasting a lot and spending their nights praying. So they were privileged with their nearness from Allah and in apostrophizing him all night , that’s why they deserved this great honor ,they deserved to be the Mothers of all believers, wives of the beloved Prophet(PBUH) in this life and in the hereafter.

But what about us? I know that a lot of the readers are married, and if not, they can see what is going on in most of the marriages these days, noticing their parents, relatives, and friends. Why marital happiness is rare in our days? Is it our time’s fault? No, it is our fault, both men and women.

The fact is that we ruined our lives by materialism, by forgetting our religion, our Islamic civilization, and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH). We forgot our love to Allah and committed sins publicly; our eyes and hearts do not blink for a moment that Allah is watching us.

Then ,What can we do now to let happiness come back to our marital lives?

How was the Prophet Treating his Wives?

There is only one way; the way of Allah and his Prophet (PBUH). This will make everyone happy with his partner in their marital life, and feel the meaning of the marital happiness that Almighty Allah created.

From here, dear brothers and sisters, I thought of this series “The Prophet as a husband,” to let every husband and wife who became far from each other restore love again. I hope you will follow up this series. All prayers, blessings, and peace of Allah upon Muhammad, his family, and companions. Continue reading

Sunan An-Nasa’i (6 Vol. Set)

http://futureislam.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/sunan-an-nasa-i-6-vol-set.jpg?w=450&h=466

Imam Hafiz An-Nasai
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 3208 | Size: 94 MB

For the first time ever in English, after years of painstaking efforts at Dar-us-Salam, Sunan An-Nasa’i is now available, complete in 6 volumes! Like the other translations of the six books of hadith, Dar-us-Salam, has taken great care in correct translation, simple and clear modern English language and high quality publishing.

Sunan An-Nasai has the fewest weak ahadith after the two Sahih collections. This Sunan is one of the six is al-Mujtaba or as-Sunan as-Sughara, which is a synopsis of a large collection of ahadith which he considered to be fairly reliable. In the smaller collection, only those ahadith which he considered to be reliable have been included.

It was compiled by the great scholar of hadith, Abu Abdur-Rahman Ahmad bin Shu’aib bin Bahr An-Nasai (Nasa’ of Khurasan) (214-303AH). Imam An-Nasai, like other great scholars of hadith traveled to Baghdad, Ash-Sham, Egypt, Mecca, and many other cities to seek knowledge. He received the praises of many scholars including Ad-Daraqutni who said about him: “He is given preference over all others who are mentioned with this knowledge from the people of his time”. Some scholars consider his compilation to have the least number of defective or weak narrations among the four Sunan. This great book of his contains 5761 ahadith, making it as an invaluable addition to anyone’s library.

This translation by Dar-us-Salam Publications has several advantages including:

- A final verdict about the authenticity of every hadith (in parentheses at end of every hadith) by the committee of scholars at Dar-us-Salam
- Comments in English after many ahadith to explain unclear points and to further explain the hadith
- Translation from old manuscripts of hadith to get the most authentic version
- Revision by three different levels of scholars to get as close to the original meaning
- Arabic and English side by side for easy access
- As always on all Dar-us-Salam books, the paper quality, binding, design and the print are unmatched. Alhamdulillah

Note:

- All the Ahadith of this collection have been documented, referenced and traced by the  research scholar, Hafiz Zubair ‘Ali Za’i.
- The original Arabic texts of the Ahadith contain complete chain of narrators while in translation, for the sake of simplicity, only the name of the first narrator is mentioned who narrated the Hadith from the Prophet.

After numerous collections of Hadith had been made during the third century of Islam six works became recognised as authoritative. Two of them are believed to be completely authentic, namely the Sahih al-Bukhari and the Shih Muslim.
The other four known as the Sunan  Sahih al-Tirmidhi, Sunan Ibn Majah, Sunan Abu Dawud, and Sunan Nasa’i are also highly esteemed but it is regarded lower in category to Sahih Bukhari and Muslim

‘Mawara-un-nehr, in Central Asia has given the world many religious scholars whose names are inscribed for ever on the pages of Islamic history. Among them we find such a distinguished person as Abu Abdur Rahman Ahmad bin Shu’aib an Nasai’i. His book Sunan occupies an outstanding place among six principal Hadith collections (Sihah Sittah) known in the Muslim world. Imam Nasa’i was very careful while selecting materials for his work. This is why many scholars consider that the book Sunan Nasa’i occupies third place in Hadith collections after Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. It contains 5764 tradition, said to have been carefully collected out of 500,000.’

Imam Abu Abdur Rahman Ahmad ibn Shu’aib an-Nasa’i (r.a) – [215 - 303 A.H.]
Imam an-Nasa’i was born in the town of Nasa’ in the province of Khorasan. After gaining hadith from the teachers in his own city, Imam an-Nasa’i travelled through Khorasan, Iraq, the Hijaz, Syria and Egypt collecting ahadith. Egypt was where Imam an-Nasa’i settled and established his center for teaching and studies here.
He Died in Makkah in 303 Hijri

About this Translation:

The translations of the the Six Books of Hadith by Darussalam is  based upon Darussalam’s previously published Arabic editions of the Six Books.
These Arabic texts were verified by a team of scholars, under the supervision of Shaykh Salih bin `Abdul-`Aziz Aal ash-Shaykh, the head of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The verification process was based upon the most important previously published editions and manuscripts, from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, and Turkey, as well as other lands.

For over five years, a grand team of highly qualified translators and editors, from various nations reaching across the globe from Saudi Arabia to America, worked on bringing these texts – among the Usul (fundamental texts) of Islam – into a clear, refined and precise English translation, so that the average English reader may have access to these important Islamic texts that were otherwise never made available to them in their entirety. Sunan Ibn Majah (5 Vol. Set)

Imam Muhammad Bib Yazeed ibn Majah Al-Qazwini
Language: Arabic-English | Format: PDF | Pages: 2678 | Size: 92 MB

Sunan Ibn Majah is one of the six most authentic collections of the Ahadith and contains 4,341 total Ahadith. Like the other translations of the six books of hadith, Dar-us-Salam Publications, has taken great care in correct translation, simple and clear modern English language, and high quality publishing.

Ahadith in the book are followed by comments to explain issues and to help readers derive lessons. To aid readers further, Dar-us-Salam, has added several features like section on how to benefit from Sunan Ibn Majah, about the Arabic and technical terms used, information about the hadith compilations and a glossary of Islamic terms in the last volume.

Each hadith is also followed by its status in regards to the authenticity. The status is explained more in detail in the Arabic text. The chain is also complete in the Arabic text while it is removed from the English to reduce the length and not being of much benefit to the English readers.

Compiled by: Imam Muhammad Bib Yazeed ibn Majah Al-Qazwini

Publisher’s Forward

The Abbasid caliph Harun Rashid (170-193 AH) had a disbeliever arrested for fabricating Ahadith and ordered his execution. The disbeliever said to the king: “Oh Commander of the Faithful, how will you deal with those four thousand Ahadith I have already fabricated, making lawful things unlawful, and the unlawful lawful, although not a word in those ‘Ahadith was ever spoken by Allah’s Messenger (S). Thereupon, the king retorted: “O enemy of Allah, how can you escape from Abu Ishaq Fazari and ‘Abdullah bin Mubarak? They will seize them out and eliminate them letter by letter.”

It is a well-known fact that the painstaking efforts of scholars gave Ahadith a high degree of reliability next to Qur’an. When the Ahadith had been read over carefully, revised, corrected and expounded in the light of the principles of Hadith sciences like Jarh (invalidation), Ta’dil (validation), and Asma’ur-Rijal, the stage for the recording of Ahadith was set. Thanks to the exhausting efforts of Hadith scholars and their deep sense of responsibility, the Muslim nation got, in addition to Sihah Sittah (the Sound Six books of Hadith) a vast treasure that included Musannafat (Hadith compilations according to subject-headings), Jawdmi’ (comprehensive books of Ahadith), Sunan (collections of legal and doctrinal Ahadith), Masanid (Hadith compilations according to complete chains), Ma’ajim (compilations arranged according to names of Companions or regions or names of teachers of compilers), Mustadrakat (compilations of Ahadith meeting the conditions of other compilers but not found in their books), and Mustakhrajat (compilations containing Ahadith of other compilers with different chains of narration), the manuscripts of which numbering in thousands researched, edited and furnished with explanatory and marginal notes, exist even today in international libraries attracting the attention of research scholars. Anyhow, among those compilations, the six canonical books of Ahadith (Sihah Sittah) rank as the centerpiece.

I have a wish since long to present the Sound Six (Sihah Sittah) translated into modem English in such a way as to list the inferences and gainful conclusions drawn from each Hadith, to remove any misgiving and misunderstanding, satisfying the mind and soul, and reinforcing the faith. With this noble cause in view, Darussalam has solicited the services of several learned scholars and researchers who are working with zeal on the translation of the Sound Six and writing commentaries on them.

All the Ahadith of this collection have been documented, referenced and traced by the great research scholar, Hafiz Zubair ‘Ali Za’i.

One thing I want to mention is that in these collections, the original Arabic texts of the Ahadith contain complete chain of narrators while in translation, for the sake of simplicity, only the name of the first narrator is mentioned who narrated the Hadith from the Prophet.

Ibn Majah’s Book: As-Sunan

Ahadith began to be put down in writing even during the era of the Prophet (S), but these Ahadith were no better than compilations individuals. Their purpose was just to put them down in writing, with: regard for order or sequence. Later, during the caliphate of ‘Umar bin ‘Abdul-’Aziz (99 AH-101 AH), the state undertook this task but most of the works in this field were the products of individual labor. During the second century of the Hijra calendar, famous books like Muwatta’ of Imam Malik and Musnad of Imam Shafi were prepared but the third stage recording Ahadith, known as the Golden Age, came only in the third century AH. Many collections were made in this age. These included the Six Books (Kutub Sittah), popularly known as the Sound Six (Sahah Sitta), Sunan of Ibn Majah being one of them and considered the last of them.

Sunan Ibn Majah began to be included in the Six Books by the end of the fifth century AH. Since then, in every succeeding age, it kept on growing value and importance. With respect to soundness and strength, Sunan Ad Darimi, Sunan Ad-Daraqutni and other books of Sunan were superior Sunan Ibn Majah but they did not gain popularity like Sunan Ibn Majah.

It is to be noted that Sunan is a technical term used by scholars of Had sciences to denote a book of Ahadith relating to legal rulings, from the Chapters of Purification down to the Chapter on Wills in the same order as followed in books of Islamic jurisprudence.

How important and useful the Sunan Ibn Majah is, can also be gauged the fact that when Ibn Majah showed his work to Imam Abu Zar’ah, the latter remarked: ‘If this book reached the public, all or most of the existing  Jawami would cease to be used. The words of Imam Abu Zar’ah proved be true to the last letter. Several Jawami, Musnads and Sunan were eclipsed by Ibn Majah’s Sunan.

Hafiz Ibn Hajar termed the book Jami’ Jaiyid (a good, comprehensive Hadith collection).

The book, As-Sunan by Imam Ibn Majah was an excellent and beneficial work that stunned the scholars of his time.

He himself said about the book: “I showed this book to Abu Zur’ah Razi. He checked it and said, ‘I think if people lay their hands on this book, all or most of other great compiled works will become unnecessary.” Continue reading

The Authority And Importance Of The Sunnah

This book deals with the following topics: the meaning of “Sunnah,” evidence for the authority of the Sunnah, the roles of the Prophet, the status of the sunnah vis-a-vis the Quran demonsrtating that the two go hand and hand as the foundation of Islam, ruling concerning one who rejects the authority of the Sunnah, the preservation of the sunnah and what it truly means to be following the Sunnah. This book is meant to clarify a number ofcommon misconceptions and encourages the correct following of the sunnah.

The word “sunnah” is defined in detailed as it is used by scholars of different disciplines. The authority and importance of the Sunnah is determined via a discussion of about fifty verses of the Qur’an. The roles of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and the indispensability of this Sunnah are clearly spelled out. The Position of the Sunnah vis-a-vis the Qur’an is dealt with in detail, demonstrating that the two go hand in hand as the foundation of Islam. Allah’s promise to preserve the Sunnah and the ways and means by which the sunnah was preserved is also discussed. The ruling concerning one who denies the place of the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is given. It is shown herein that the sunnah-which is the true implementation of the Qur’an-is the only real “version and way of Islam. The final chapter discusses the real meaning of “adhering to the Sunnah” as well as a discussion of what a commitment that truly is. Continue reading

The Noble Life Of The Prophet – (3 Volumes)

http://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/the-noble-life-of-the-prophet-3-volumes.jpg?w=400&h=533

Dr. ‘Ali Muhammad As-Sallaabee

In this book, the events of the Prophet’s life, from the day he (S) was born and even before that day for background information-until the day he (S) died, have been recorded.

Beyond enumerating the events of the Prophet’s life, lessons and morals from those events have been drawn to point out the significance of an event and the wisdom behind the Prophet’s actions or deeds, the Islamic ruling that is derived from a particular incident, and the impact that a given event should have on our character or choice of deeds is indicated.

Male or female, adult or child, scholar or commoner, businessman or laborer – all Muslims need to study the biography of the Messenger of Allah. In fact, the fulfillment of many of our Islamic duties hinges upon our knowledge of the Prophet’s life. For example, every Muslim should love the Prophet (S) yet how can one love him without knowing him. We were not alive when the Prophet (S) was preaching the message of Islam to the Quraish, so the only way we have left to become intimately acquainted with the Prophet (S) and consequently to love him, is to study his sayings and deeds, which give us partial glimpses of his life, or to study his biography, which fits the pieces of his life together, so that we can have an overall view of his ideal character. And how are we to follow the Prophet (S) if we do not know his sayings and deeds, or – which is more relevant to his biography – the context in which his sayings and deeds occurred. Thus we are all in dire need of acquainting ourselves with the life of the Prophet (S)

Through the study of the Seerah (the Prophet’s biography), we are able to appreciate how the Prophet (S) was an ideal husband, ideal father, ideal leader, ideal ruler, ideal educator, ideal judge, and so on. So regardless of our situation and who we are, we benefit from studying the Prophet’s life. If one has dedicated at least some part of his life to inviting others to Islam (which makes him a Daa’ee – a word I will henceforward use one who invites others to the teachings of Islam), then the Prophet’s biography is for him an indispensable guidebook. Through studying the Prophet’s Seerah, the Daa’ee learns about the Prophet’s methodology for inviting others to Islam; furthermore, he learns about how the Prophet (S) dealt with those who refused to embrace Islam and how he ;t”,’ was patient when he was made to suffer at their hands, not to mention the countless other lessons and morals he learns from the Seerah.

If one is an educator – of children at home or school, or of adults at a community level – one learns how the best educator mankind has ever known raised a generation of true Muslims, who went on to develop the most wonderful civilization that mankind has ever known. The early converts to Islam were educated in the world’s finest institution of higher learning – the House of Al-Arqam (the house wherein Muslims secretly met in the early days of Islam) – where the Prophet (S) taught them the Qur’an, Islamic beliefs, the manners of Islam, and so on. His students graduated with flying colors, becoming leaders and educators of the following generation of Muslims.

If one is a leader, one learns true qualities of leadership from the Prophet’s Seerah, in terms of how the Prophet (S) was just; how he united the Muslims; how he (S) dealt with subversive elements of society, namely the hypocrites, who were headed by ‘Abdullah ibn Ubai ibn Salool; and how he (S) constantly strove for the betterment of the Muslim nation.

If one is a scholar, one relies on the Seerah to understand the Qur’an, for the Prophet’s actions represent a practical application of the teachings of the Qur’an. Furthermore, the revelation of many Verses was prompted by actual events that took place during the Prophet’s lifetime; a scholar can only understand such Verses if he understands the events for which they were revealed. And in fact (as we will In Sha Allah see throughout this book) knowledge of all Islamic sciences – such as ‘Aqeedah (beliefs), jurisprudence, and Tafseer – hinges frequently upon knowledge of some aspect of the Prophet’s Seerah.

If a Muslim inclines towards Zuhd (to abstain from worldly pleasures for the sake of Allah) he can learn, through the study of the Seerah, the difference between true Zuhd and extremism, for the correct way to live is the balanced life that the Prophet (S) and his Companions led. If a Muslim is afflicted by calamity, he can find consolation in the Seerah, for no one was afflicted with as much hardship as was the Messenger of Allah; beyond consolation, the afflicted person becomes encouraged to follow the example of the Prophet; and patiently await for his reward from Allah . In short, there are valuable lessons to be found in the Seerah for every single Muslim.

Not just the Muslim individual, but also the Muslim nation as a whole needs to benefit from the lessons that are available in the Prophet’s Seerah. Nations rise and fall not through coincidence or through a set of arbitrary occurrences, but through universal laws that have been set in place by Allah . At least once in our history, Muslims have succeeded in building a wonderful and stable civilization, and that was during the lifetime of the Prophetand his rightly guided Caliphs; and even if Muslims prospered in later centuries, they never prospered as much as they did in the early golden years of Islam. Now we come back to the universal laws I mentioned above: The Prophet , and his Companions established a stable and prosperous nation not by chance, but by living in harmony with the said universal laws. What this means is that there is a pattern: If we want to now repeat the success that was achieved by the Muslims during the lifetime of the Prophet Oh, we need to be in harmony with the same set of laws, and in doing so, we have an ideal blueprint to follow – the lives of the Prophet (S) and his noble Companions (R). The Message Of The Messengers

http://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/the-message-of-the-messengers.jpg?w=450&h=395

Dr. Saleh as-Saleh
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 29 | Size: 1 MB

Allah could not have created this universe without a purpose. He is All-Wise, All- Knowledgeable, All-Merciful and All-Just. All of these attributes entail providing ways of guidance that would lead to the proper knowledge of Him, and thus the right way to worship Him:

أَيَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتۡرَكَ سُدًى

“Does man think that he will be left Sudaa1 (without a purpose)?” (Qur’an 75: 36)

One of Allah’s ways of guidance is the office of Messengership which involves the Message and the Messenger. The essence of the Message is to direct man to relate to His Creator through complete submission and obedience (this is the meaning of Islam).

Man does not possess the air he breathes. He does not create. He is not the creator of himself. He needs to know what benefits him and what harms him. The Message from Allah comprehends everything. It brings man to live for a noble purpose. That is why Allah called the Message of Islam, an Inspiration and a Light:

“And thus We have sent to you (O Muhammad) Ruhan2 of Our command. You knew not what is the Book (the Qur’an), nor what is Iman (Faith)? But We have made it (the Qur’an) a Light, whereby We guide whom We will of Our bondsmen. And verily you are indeed guiding (mankind) to the Straight Path.” (Qur’an 42: 52)

The Inspiration brings Life, and the Light brings Light. Allah gave a beautiful parable on the Message and its effects, saying:

He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and the valleys flow according to their measure, but the flood bears away the foam that mounts up to the surface, and (also) from that (ore) which they heat in the fire in order to make ornaments or utensils, rises a foam like unto it, thus does Allah (by parables) show forth truth and falsehood. Then, as for the foam it passes away as scum upon the banks, while that which is for the good of mankind remains in the earth. Thus Allah set forth parables (for the Truth and Falsehood, i.e. Belief and Disbelief).” (Qur’an 13: 17)

The Knowledge about the Message (about Allah, the universe, the purpose of our existence, what is good and what is bad) is like the water sent down from the sky. In the water there is life for our bodies and in the Message there is life for our hearts. The parable of the light was given in the heating fire which removes impurities (foam) from metals like iron, gold, and silver, and what remains is a pure and beneficial substance.

The valleys are our hearts. This is where knowledge flows to. Some valleys can hold more water flow than others; each has its own capacity. Some valleys have surfaces that will not hold any water. The same for hearts. Some holding more knowledge than others, while some comprehend and understand little. The foam produced during water flow passes away as scum upon the banks and what benefits mankind remains on the earth. Similarly, lust, uncontrolled desires, doubts about Allah and His true religion are just like foam; they shall pass away while belief in Him and in His Message will remain. This life links man to his Creator and to all that is created by Allah, and provides him with codes of conduct that distinguish him from the animal world. Those who think that man’s presence on earth has no purpose are most certainly wrong:

وَقَالُواْ مَا هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡيَا وَمَا يُہۡلِكُنَآ إِلَّا ٱلدَّهۡرُ‌ۚ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَٲلِكَ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍ‌ۖ إِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ

“And they say: “There is nothing but our life of this world, we die and we live, and nothing destroys us except the Dahr (time)3″. And they have no knowledge of it, they only conjecture.” (Qur’an 45: 24)

Those who are aimless about their purpose of existence search for all possible means of “enjoyment” and compete for it. Their life as explained by Allah:

“They have hearts (minds) wherewith they understand not, they have eyes wherewith they see not, and they have ears wherewith they hear not (the Truth). They are like cattle, nay even more astray; those! They are the heedless ones.” (Qur’an 7: 179)

In the world of animals there is a struggle for survival! But in the human world there is a purpose:

“O mankind! We have created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other. Verily, the most honorable of you in the sight of Allah is that (believer) who is best in At- Taqwa: adhering to the religion of Allah and best in performing good deeds as prescribed by Allah.” (Qur’an 49: 13)

The aim to achieve At-Taqwa is constructive and beneficial and it stands against mischief like “might is right,” “my Color is better,” “worshipping of idols, lust, money, or other created entities,” and so forth:

This is part of man’s purpose on earth. Man’s whole life is related to His Creator:

قُلۡ إِنَّ صَلَاتِى وَنُسُكِى وَمَحۡيَاىَ وَمَمَاتِى لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ – لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ۥ‌ۖ وَبِذَٲلِكَ أُمِرۡتُ وَأَنَا۟ أَوَّلُ ٱلۡمُسۡلِمِينَ

Say (O Muhammad SAW): “Verily, my Salât (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allâh, the Lord of the ‘Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists) (162) “He has no partner. And of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims.” (163) (Qur’an 6: 162-163)

All deeds and utterances, open or hidden, and which Allah loves and accepts, constitute the meaning of worship. All forms of worship are explained in the Qur’an and by the Prophet (SAW: sallallaahu ‘alaihi was-sallam4). Worship is not left for our limited minds to decide upon their ways. Worship is one’s life according to Islam. Thus it can only be devoted to our Creator, Allah. Continue reading

Muhammad (PBUH) The Finest Man Who Ever Lived

http://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/muhammad-pbuh-the-finest-man-who-ever-lived.jpg?w=450&h=395

Shaykh Hishaam Muhammad Sa‘eed Barghash, PhD

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds, and may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon Muhammad ibn ‘Abdillaah, the seal of the prophets, the finest of the former and latter generations, our master and ideal example.

He is the possessor of the Hawdh (Basin) from which the believers will drink on the day of Judgment; the Banner under which the believers will gather; the Station of Praise and Glory; and the Bright Marks on his face, hands and feet (from the remnants of his ablution). He is the one who was mentioned in the Tawraah (Torah) and Injeel (Gospel), and supported by the Angel Jibreel (Gabriel), may Allaah exalt his mention.

His Lord distinguished him with the Israa’ and Mi‘raaj (Night Journey to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa and Ascent to Heaven) and He split the moon for him, and made a cure and blessing in his saliva and sweat. With his invocations the rain was sent down. To him the trees submitted. Upon him, camels and stones sent their salutations. He was made victorious by awe, for Allaah terrified his enemies at a distance of a month’s journey.

He is the master of the sons of Aadam (Adam), and this is no boast. The evidences of his prophethood are numerous and his noble manners and attributes are countless.

The best of creation in his childhood, the most purified in his youth, the superior in his maturity, the most righteous throughout his lifetime, the most just of judges, and the bravest on the battlefield. Allaah The Almighty endowed him with every sublime moral and refined manner, purified him from every impurity, guarded him against every slip, taught him good manners, educated him well and endowed him with every noble trait. Thus, no one could be like him in his perfection, nobility, truthfulness, honesty, asceticism, bashfulness and chastity.

Such is the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. All those who knew him well acknowledged his nobility, excellent nature, kind-heartedness, gentleness, wisdom, intelligence, firm determination and compassion.

No one can read about the magnanimous manners and the noble character of the Messenger, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, without expressing admiration of his character and bedazzlement by it. Thus, it is no wonder that we see such fragrant praise and objective testimonies from many of those who have not even embraced Islam. History has recorded their quotations, writings and heritage in this regard and this provides firm evidence and decisive proof of his sublime morals and characteristics, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.

Nobody ever experienced the amount of hardship, trials, difficulties and crises that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, experienced throughout his mission. However, he confronted all such strains with the ultimate perseverance and steadfastness.

He was patient when he was an orphan, when he was poor, hungry and needy. He was described as a liar, a poet, a soothsayer, a sorcerer, and insane, yet he was patient. He was harmed, wronged, cursed and insulted, yet he was patient.

His uncle Abu Taalib died, and he remained patient. His wife died, and he remained patient. People drove him out and fought him, and he remained patient. His uncle Hamzah was killed, and he remained patient. His son died, and he remained patient. False accusations were made against his chaste noble wife, yet he was patient and forbearing.

His relatives were killed, his companions were murdered, his followers were driven out of their homes, his enemies gathered against him to fight him, yet he was patient and forbearing.

He had a great deal of patience with those who attacked and insulted him, with those who gathered together to fight him, with the aggression of those who denied the truth and the power of falsehood.

He had a great deal of patience in the face of the adornments and beautifications of the worldly life, and was attached to none of it.

The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was the ideal example of ultimate perseverance and steadfastness in all his life affairs. In fact, patience was his armour, shield, friend and ally.

Whenever he was disturbed by the malicious words of his enemies, he would remember the verse in which Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {So be patient over what they say.} [Quran 20:130]

Whenever he feared the power of his enemies or when the disbelievers harmed him, he would remember the verse in which Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {So be patient, [O Muhammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them.} [Quran 46:35] Continue reading

The Ruling Concerning Mawlid An-Nabawi – (Celebration Of The Prophet’s Birthday)

http://futureislam.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/the-ruling-concerning-mawlid-an-nabawi-celebration-of-the-prophet-s-birthday.jpg?w=450&h=395

Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzan
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 63 | Size: 7 MB

In this book, Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzan has enumerated several reasons behind the prohibition of celebrating the Mawlid, and explicitly clarified the major doubts raised up by the proponents of Mawlid; and this includes the claims that …

  • Celebration of Mawlid is honouring the Prophet.
  • Mawlid is celebrated by a large number of people in many towns and cities
  • Commemorating Mawlid renews the memories of the Prophet
  • Mawlid is a Bidah Husna (good innovation) because it is a means of showing gratitude towards Allah for sending the Prophet.
  • The saying of Umar, ‘What a good Bidah is this?’
  • Celebration of Mawlid an-Nabawi is out of love for the Prophet and an expression of one’s love, which is permissible.

Additional quotes by Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ibraheem Aal-Shaikh have been added to further clarify these issues.

“Those who participate in the celebration of Mawlid an-Nabawi are of different types;

  • Some simply gather on the occasion and read the story of birth, give speeches and recite poems.
  • Some prepare food and sweets, and distribute it to the attendees.
  • Some commemorate the celebration in the mosques while others in the houses.
  • Some do not limit themselves to the above, they add to it prohibited actions of mingling between men and women, dancing, singing or acts of Shirk like invoking and calling upon Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam), etc.

With all its various forms and intentions of those who celebrate it, commemoration of Mawlid an-Nabawi is indisputably a prohibited innovation…” [end of excerpt from the book]

The booklet has two valuable appendixes…

Appendix 1:

An explanation of the Hadeeth, “He, who establishes/initiates a Sunnah Husna (good Sunnah) in Islam, he will have the reward of those who perform it after him until the Day of Judgment.”, in the words of Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzan (hafidhahullah) and Shaikh Saleh al-Uthaimeen (rahimahullah). And this hadeeth is often brought forth in defense of innovations.

Appendix 2:

A Dialogue between Shaikh al-Albaani (rahimahullah) and a proponent of Mawlid concerning, “Is the celebration of Mawlid a good deed (Khayr)?”

I ask Allah to make us amongst those who follow the Qur’an and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Sahabah (radiallahu anhum). Ameen Continue reading

Muhammad (PBUH) The Perfect Model For Humanity

In the Name of Allah, The Compassionate, The Merciful

Great and sublime achievements can he manifest in different fields of human action, and so there are great figures in science and philosophy, in public service and generosity, in war, etc. But in whatever field, the greatness of such achievements is founded upon its generating raison d’être, just as the strength of the trunk of a tree is founded upon the strength of its roots. And, accordingly, the value, importance and enduring quality of this greatness lie in the potency of its grounds.

We affirm that true greatness is based on many pillars and essentials, of which the most important are these four:

First, the psychological and moral qualities of the individual. Second, the nobility and worth of the fundamental values initiated by the individual, and upon which the individual’s actions were based. Third, the extent of the realization of these fundamental values in actions by the individual. Fourth. the extent of the individual’s success in forming a well-qualified leading generation to shoulder the responsibility for maintaining those fundamentals and continuing to put them into effect.

Certainly, greatness cannot be comprehensive nor full unless it contains all of these four elements. In the pages that follow, we shall show the greatness of our Prophet Muhammad, may peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him, in the light of these essential elements, depending for our demonstration on solid facts and historical evidence.

The First Pillar

As to the first pillar, psychological and personal moral qualities, the authentic biographies of the Prophet teach us that he was the very pattern of excellence, the noblest exemplar. Before he was called to prophethood, he was a peerless example of the good youth, of complete purity. The people of his tribe called him ‘the Trustworthy . In a Jahili society, he did not drink wine, nor worshipped idols, nor sought amusement in improper ways, Not even those of his tribe who became mortal enemies after lie was called to prophethood. imputed any misconduct to him. He was affectionate to the poor, tender— hearted to the weak, and a supporter of the oppressed. That is why he took part in the Fudel pact in which some good people bound themselves to help the weak and oppressed and to recover their rights against abuse by the tyranny of tribal chieftains.

After his prophethood, ‘A’isha, the Mother of the Faithful, may Allah be pleased with her, described him in this way in a sound hadith: ‘His moral was the Qur’an itself’, meaning that the moral qualities mentioned in the Qur’in and the injunctions revealed by divine command, were all hamionized in his person. ‘A’isha also said that ‘Allah’s Messenger, may peace and the blessings of Allah be upon him, never took revenge for himself unless the things made inviolate by Allah were violated; he then took revenge for Allah.”

After the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Prophet at the cave of Hira and he came home trembling to tell his wife Khadija about what had happened, she said: ‘By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you.

You keep good relations with your kith and kin, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving who have been affected by calamity.’

After these general remarks about the Prophet’s personal qualities, we shall now refer to four particular virtues, which no other great person has exhibited all together, especially not those who have enjoyed power. Continue reading

Was Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) Merciful?

A Christian clergyman called Father Nicholas has been living next to me for a good few years now. When he first moved in I hastened to welcome him. I offered the initial helping hand necessary for him to sort things out and settle in nicely in his new flat. It was only a small gesture of friendship and camaraderie, perfectly in line with my commitment to my Islamic teachings, which make it imperative for all Muslims to maintain good neighbourly relations, regardless of the race, colour or creed of their neighbours. After all, it was the Godsend Prophet (pbuh) himself who said: “Gabriel kept urging me to be kind to my neighbours till I thought he would give them the right of inheritance.”(1)

Months and years passed and Father Nicholas and I somehow seemed to have developed a kind of intimacy founded on a venerable ‘Quranic verse: “Indeed… you will find that the closest and most loving to the believers (Muslims) are those who say ‘We are Christians.’”(2) We exchanged visits regularly on special Muslim and Christian feasts and festivities, often spending the time talking about our two religions. We stayed clear of the usual chatter and flattering, small talk. He told me about his faith as he understood and practiced it and I told him about mine, often to the mutual benefit of both.

Things went on like this till 12/ 09/ 2006, I still remember the exact date, when the newly appointed Pope of the Vatican, Benedictus XVI, made his well known remarks which offended Muslims and insulted the Islamic Prophet. The new Pontiff quoted at length some moronic medieval texts, written at a time when religious wars were still raging between Christians and Muslims, partly due to such claims that “Islam was spread by the sword” and that “the Prophet of Islam brought nothing new but the sword.” The same hackneyed charges really, propagated by the same people and the same mentality that engendered crusades and crusaders in the first place. It is the same frame of mind still intent on raking old fires and fomenting further religious wars and culture clashes.(3)

The media hype began in earnest immediately after, reporting the Pope’s provocative remarks and the various reactions to them.

I bumped into my neighbour Father Nicholas a couple of days later, on 20/09/2006 to be specific, right at the front door of our building. As usual, we said hello, shook hands, inquired about each other’s health and how things are going. Only this time he added:

- When does your month of fasting begin this year?
- In three or four days, I said, depending on when exactly the crescent moon of Ramadan becomes visible.
- I’ll come and visit you on the first day of Ramadan to congratulate you on the start of your fasting feast.
- Most welcome.
- What do you usually do in a typical Ramadan evening, he asked? I wouldn’t like to come at an inconvenient time.
- Well, I usually wait for the Mu’azen to call for the Maghreb prayer thereby announcing the end of fasting for that day. I have a couple of dates or a drink of water, pray the Maghreb then have my main meal. After that I pray the Isha and the Taraweh in the mosque, where I perform all my prayers. At around nine p.m., winter timing, I stay in to have some rest.
- We’ll meet at nine, then, the first day of Ramadan, if that’s ok with you, he said.
- God willing.
- Oh, and I’ll bring a friend along, if you don’t mind, he added. You don’t know him. He’d like to meet you and speak with you.
- Most welcome, you and your friend. We said goodbye to one another. I pushed on to where I was heading and he climbed up the steps to his flat. Continue reading

Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) The Prophet Of Mercy

The Global Program of Introducing the Prophet of Mercy
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 84 | Size: 1 MB

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon Muhammad, seal of the prophets and messengers.

“If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astonishing results are the three criteria of a human genius, who could dare compare any great man in history with Muhammad? “Philosopher, Orator, Apostle, Legislator, Conqueror of Ideas, Restorer of Rational beliefs…The founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire that is Muhammad. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?” Alphonse de Lamartine in ‘Histoire de la Turquie,’ Paris, 1854.

“People, listen to me as I explain to you, for I do not know whether I will ever meet you again in this place after this year”, he said in a strong and clear voice. The crowd, over a hundred and twenty-four thousand, stood in silence knowing that whatever was about to be said was of the utmost importance.

The men were all dressed in two white garments, whilst the women were in their normal clothing. He continued talking, whilst sitting up straight on his camel. “Know that your blood, property and honour are as sacred as this day, this month and this city”. It was mid-day and the sun was bright and hot. Yet the weather was the last thing on the minds of these righteous men and women. Their eyes were fixed on their leader and they were listening attentively to his words.

“You will certainly meet your Lord and He will certainly question you about what you do. Have I delivered my message?” He asked. They all unanimously replied “Yes”. “O God, bear witness,” he said, raising his forefinger skywards and then moving it towards the people.

As soon as he finished, the following verse was revealed to him:

ٱلۡيَوۡمَ أَكۡمَلۡتُ لَكُمۡ دِينَكُمۡ وَأَتۡمَمۡتُ عَلَيۡكُمۡ نِعۡمَتِى وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلۡإِسۡلَـٰمَ دِينً۬ا‌ۚ

“This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” (The Noble Qur’ān: 5:3)

Finally, the mission was accomplished. A movement, which started a little over twenty years ago by one man, was now a full-fledged nation with thousands of followers. Within a few decades, it was to spread further and engulf three continents. In just a hundred years, it would become the largest empire ever seen, stretching from the Indus to the streets of Gibraltar. Within another hundred years, it would reach the doorsteps of China. The transforming power of his message was to produce a civilisation which contributed to all areas of human endeavour, in algebra, engineering, astronomy and medicine.

Even today, almost a quarter of the people of the earth have responded to the message of this man. People of all colours and ethnic backgrounds, the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak, all have been touched by the light, which was torched by this individual approximately fourteen hundred years ago.

How can a man of such modest beginnings, a man with such feeble means, a man with so few early followers, and a man in such a short space of time;

start a revolution which changed the face of human history forever? Who is this man? He is Muhammad bin Abdullah (blessings and peace be upon him), the last Messenger of God. The greatest man in history and here is his story. Continue reading

Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) In The Torah And Gospel

All praise is due to Allah alone, and may Allah praise Muhammad and render him safe from every evil.

One of the distinguishing Characteristics of a Mus1im is that they believe in all Prophets and Messengers whom Allah the Exalted, sent from Adam to Muhammad, may Allah praise them all and render them safe from all evil.

Islam commands Muslims to love and believe in all Messengers and Prophets, for they were the best of mankind.

Islam clarifies that disbelieving in one of them is tantamount to disbelief in all of them. When a Muslim believes in Muhammad (PBUH) but disbelieves in Jesus (PBUH) he is not considered a Muslim, even if he believes in Muhammad (PBUH). Similarly, if one disbelieves in Muhammad (PBUH) but believes in other prophets, he is a disbeliever in all the Prophets.

Allah informs us in the Qur’an that Muhammad (PBUH) is mentioned in the Torah and Gospel, through his description and actions.

Allah says:

{Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel he commands them for Al-Ma’roof (i.e. Islamic monotheism and all that Islam has ordained); and forbids them from al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden); he allows them as lawful all good and lawful things and prohibits them as unlawful all evil things. He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the fetters that were upon them. So those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the light which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful.} [The Noble Qur'an 7: 157]

Allah mentions in the Qur’an that Prophet Ibraheem (Abraham) supplicated Allah to send a Prophet to mankind.

Allah says:

{Our Lord! Send amongst them a Messenger of their own who shall recite unto them Your verses and instruct them in the Book and Al-Hikmah (full knowledge of the Islamic laws and jurisprudence) and Purify them. Verily, You are the All- Mighty, the All-Wise.) [The Noble Qur'an 2: 129]

Jesus gave glad-tidings of the coming of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Allah, the Exalted, says:

{And (remember} when Jesus, son of Maryam said: ‘O children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you, confirming the Torah which came before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed. But when Ahmed came to them with clear proofs, they said: (‘This is plain Magic’.) [The Noble Qur'an 61: 6] Continue reading

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and may Allah exalt the mention of His Prophet who was sent as a mercy to the worlds, and may He render him, his household and companions safe from every evil.

There is no doubt that our Prophet (PBUH) was the paradigm of excellent manners, and beautiful characteristics and traits, which no one else comprehensively possessed. Even his enemies who fought and disbelieved in him, attested to this fact. Abu Jahl, who was one of the harshest enemies of Islam, said: ‘O Muhammad! I do not say that you are a liar! I only deny what you brought and what you call people to.’

All mankind, including his enemies recognize his Virtues

Truly what the enemy attests to is but the truth

The Prophet (PBUH) was the paradigm of excellent manners. Allah, the Exalted, praised him saying:

وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ۬

(And verily, you (O Muhammad PBUH) are on an exalted (standard of) character.) [68:4]

Allah, the Exalted, said that he is a mercy to mankind.

(And by the Mercy of Allah, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you.) [3:159]

The Prophet exemplified the Qur’an, until it was said that he was a Qur’an walking on the earth. When his wife was asked about his manners, he said: ‘Do you not recite the Qur’an?’ they said: ‘Yes’. She said: ‘The manners of the Prophet were the Qur’an.’

This book is talking about the manners of the Prophet – peace be upon him – and shows generosity and dream, Zahedan, courage, justice and company. Continue reading

This is an important book talks about a common issue misunderstood but misused by lots of thinkers and orientalists. It is “Why did Prophet Muhammad marry Aisha the young girl?” The author shows the reason behind their discussion. They want to distort the picture of Prophet Muhammad not criticize the marriage of young girl. Also if this kind of marriage was strange, why did not the disbelievers of Quraish use it as a pretext against Muhammad?! The author discusses other topics such as: Europe also allows marrying young girls, the age of consent in most countries worldwide.

Contents:

1. Is the Purpose Criticizing the Marriage of Young Girls or Distorting the Picture of Prophet Muhammad?
2. If such Marriage was Strange, then why didn›t the Disbelievers of Quraish use it as a Pretext against Muhammad?
3. Did they know the Marriage Age in Judaism?
4. Europe also allows Marrying Young Girls!
5. The Age of Consent in Most Countries Worldwide!
6. Is it Logical to judge a Marriage Case that took Place before 1400 Years under the Laws of the 1st Century?
7. Brides in Africa are Younger than Ten?

The Prophet’s Noble Character

http://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/the-prophet-s-noble-character.jpg?w=450&h=395

Website of Rasoulullah (peace be upon him)
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 34 | Size: 1.5 MB

This is a book presented by Rasoulallah Website (http://www.rasoulallah.net) shows aspects of our Prophet’s life. It contains topics as: his manners, his exemplary justice, his simple life, his love for the poor, his forgiveness shown to the non-Muslims. It includes other important topics as: how did he achieve reform, can he be taken as a model for Muslims to follow and how did he instill brotherhood among Muslims?

{By the grace of Allah, you are gentle towards the people; if you had been stern and ill-tempered, they would have dispersed from round about you} (translation of Qur’an 3:159)

About himself the prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Allah has sent me as an apostle so that I may demonstrate perfection of character, refinement of manners and loftiness of deportment.” (Malik, Mawatta; Ahmed, Musnad; Mishkat)

By nature he was gentle and kind hearted, always inclined to be gracious and to overlook the faults of others. Politeness and courtesy, compassion and tenderness, simplicity and humility, sympathy and sincerity were some of the keynotes of his character. In the cause of right and justice he could be resolute and severe but more often than not, his severity was tempered with generosity. He had charming manners which won him the affection of his followers and secured their devotion. Though virtual king of Arabia and an apostle of Allah, he never assumed an air of superiority. Not that he had to conceal any such vein by practice and artifice: with fear of Allah, sincere humility was ingrained in his heart. He used to say, “I am a Prophet of Allah but I do not know what will be my end.” (Bukhari, Sahih Bukhari, Chapter “Al-Janaiz”)

In one of his sermons calculated to instill the fear of Allah and the day of reckoning in the hearts of men, he said : “O people of Quraish be prepared for the hereafter, I cannot save you from the punishment of Allah; O Bani Abd Manaf, I cannot save you from Allah; O Abbas, son of Abdul Mutalib, I cannot protect you either; O Fatima, daughter of Muhammad, even you I cannot save.” (Sahahin)

He used to pray : “O Allah! I am but a man. If I hurt any one in any manner, then forgive me and do not punish me.” (Ahmed, Musnad, Vol. 6 pg. 103)

He always received people with courtesy and showed respect to older people and stated:

“To honor an old man is to show respect to Allah.”

He would not deny courtesy even to wicked persons. It is stated that a person came to his house and asked permission for admission. The prophet (peace be upon him) remarked that he was not a good person but might be admitted. When he came in and while he remained in the house, he was shown full courtesy. When he left Aiysha (ra) said : “You did not think well of this man, but you treated him so well.” . The prophet (peace be upon him) replied : “He is a bad person in the sight of Allah who does not behave courteously and people shun his company bacause of his bad manners.” (Bukhari, Sahih Bukhari).

He was always the first to greet another and would not withdraw his hand from a handshake till the other man withdrew his. If one wanted to say something in his ears, he would not turn away till one had finished (Abu Dawud, Tirmizi). He did not like people to get up for him and used to say : “Let him who likes people to stand up in his honour, he should seek a place in hell.” (Abu Dawud, Kitabul Adab, Muhammadi Press, Delhi).

He would himself, however, stand up when any dignitary came to him. He had stood up to receive the wet nurse who had reared him in infancy and had spread his own sheet for her. His foster brother was given similar treatment. He avoided sitting at a prominent place in a gathering, so much so that people coming in had difficulty in spotting him and had to ask which was the Prophet (peace be upon him). Quite frequently uncouth bedouins accosted him in their own gruff and impolite manner but he never took offence. (Abu Dawud Kitabul Atama). Continue reading

The Conduct Of The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) During Hajj

All praise is due to Almighty Allah. We praise Him and seek His assistance and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evils of ourselves and from our sinful deeds. Whosoever Allah guides, there is none to misguide him; and whosoever He leaves astray, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship besides Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah bestow His peace and blessings upon Prophet Muhammad, upon his good and pure family, as well as upon all his noble companions and those who follow them in righteousness until the Day of Reckoning.

Hajj is one of the finest institutions of Islam that serves a multitude of purposes. It is a demonstration of the universality of Islam which attracts to it people from all walks of life and from the four comers of the world; it is the largest annual ‘conference of faith’ where Muslims get to know one another, discuss their common affairs and promote their general welfare; it is a reminder of the Grand Assembly on the Day of Judgement when people will stand equal before the Lord of the worlds; it also confirms the commitment of the Muslims to their Lord and their willingness to relinquish the material interests in His service. It is a course of spiritual advancement and moral uplifting, a course of exceptional devotion and disciplinary experience, and a course of humanitarian interests and inspiring knowledge.

Allah the Almighty commands His obedient servants to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet (pbuh) in numerous verses of the Qur’an. Allah says, “And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain from it.” (59:7) He made the Prophet (pbuh) an exemplary model to emulate: “Verily you have in the Prophet of Allah an excellent model, for him who fears Allah and the Last day and who remembers Allah much.” (33:21) He also informs us that obedience to the prophet (pbuh) is a clear indication of Allah’s love for those who do so: “Say, ‘If you love Allah, follow me: [then] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.’” (3:31) Besides, He points out that this obedience is synonymous with obedience given to Allah Himself: “He who obeys the Messenger obeys Allah indeed; and whoever turns away then We have not sent you to watch over them.” (4:80) For those who follow in the prophet’s footsteps Allah has prepared a great reward in the Hereafter: “And whosoever obeys Allah and the Messenger shall be among those on whom Allah has bestowed His blessings, namely, the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent companions are these!” (4:69)

Hajj is an act of worship which tests one’s true following in the Prophet’s footsteps. A number of Muslim scholars have rendered Muslims a good service by delineating, in sermons as well as in writing, its rulings, the common mistakes committed by certain pilgrims during the Hajj, as well as the acts that are bound to invalidate it. Talks and writings to this effect have benefited Muslim a great deal. The fact that these rulings are indeed important, even necessary, since the validity of the Hajj is largely contingent on them, has made many people forget other equally important aspects of the Prophet’s conduct during his Hajj. Consequently, a number of pilgrims nowadays perform many acts that are not exactly in line with the Prophet’s guidance. Therefore, the main aim of the present book is to give an accurate account of the Prophet’s conduct during the Hajj. The importance of knowing this neglected aspect is manifest in a number of points, the most prominent of all are:

a. Studying this aspect in the life of the prophet (pbuh) and acting upon the teachings it entails helps one understand the noble purposes this great institution could serve as well as realize the true worship and submission to Allah as it should be.

b. Many pilgrims are not aware of the Prophet’s conduct during the Hajj and only content themselves with knowledge of the rulings of the Hajj rituals.

c. The Hajj is a unique and very special act of worship in that the prophet (pbuh) dealt with people from a variety of social strata. He also met various people who had never before had an opportunity to witness his conduct in the course of a few days at a certain place and time. Therefore, it reveals many facets of his social dealings with people that do not exist anywhere else.

d. The Prophet (pbuh) accompanied his wives and a number of the weak members of his household on this spiritual journey, which revealed a bright aspect of his conduct towards them, in a manner not known before then.

e. His conduct during the Hajj revealed a great deal of significance not known-let alone acted upon-even by some students of religious knowledge who are concerned with the study of the Sunnah of the prophet (pbuh).

The present study attempts to give a general description and a lucid account of the Prophet’s conduct in Hajj. It does not attempt to provide a description of the rules and steps followed during the Hajj, as this is not the main concern of the book. For details showing this, the reader may consult the elaborate works on the subject.

Since it is next to impossible to cover all aspects of his conduct in the present work, only the most prominent ones will be stated. Regrettably enough, in giving examples of the Prophet’s conduct, only one or two examples are cited. In some other cases only the reference where such an example can be found is given. The reader may therefore refer to major works on the subject for more details.

Furthermore, given the enormity of the task and the limitations of space, it is impossible to produce an exhaustive study in a small book of this nature. The present work will attempt to give only general hints about the subject without going into details. For reasons of simplicity and better understanding, the present work will be divided into three main sections:

I. The Prophet’s Conduct towards his Lord
II. The prophet’s Conduct towards Muslims in general
III. The Prophet’s Conduct towards his Family members In particular

We pray Almighty Allah to make the present work beneficial to all those who intend to perform Hajj-or ‘Umrah for that matter-in the same manner the Prophet (pbuh) performed it. We also pray Him to make all our endeavors sincere and to accept all our good deeds. Surely, He is the Hearer of prayer. Continue reading

The Farewell Advice Of The Prophet (PBUH)

Shaykh Husayn al-Awayishah

In recent times, many sincere Muslims have looked to ascertain the situation of our Nation, and what they see were the effects of the Devil (Shaytan), the blackness of wicked deeds, and the blood of many wounds. They saw discord, disagreement, disunity, confusion, and anxiety. They perceived the evil results of not ruling according to Allah’s Book – in the home, the streets, or the marketplace. They saw these results in schools, universities, books, newspapers, and the media; in fact, they even witnessed them in the best places, mosques, where innovations now flourish. And they have also seen the effects of that evil among the ranks of callers to Islam and students of knowledge. Those who hasten to do good deeds are in competition to find a cure for our Nation and woes. The medicines, rather the panaceas, that are proffered are many, yet the situation remains as it is – except in certain quarters, where scattered efforts are made, but not enough to effect an overall change. If we truly want a universal cure to our woes, we must study the advice and farewell guidance given by the Prophet (SAW) to his Companions and to his Nation… Continue reading
