Are We Forced Or Do We Have Free Will

Shaikh Muhammad ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 65 | Size: 3 MB

Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzan writes in Mujmal Aqeedah as-Salaf,

“Many groups have been misled in their understanding of Qadar (Predestination/Divine Decree). From them are the Jahmiyah and the Jabriyah who claim that the slave is forced in his actions and he has no control, ability or will. He is like a feather or a leaf which is blown by the wind.

Another group went to the other extreme and declared that every man creates his own actions. Allah has no will or control in the slave’s action. The slave performs his actions by his choice and power that is independent of the Will of Allah. Some of them exaggerated to the extent that they said that Allah does not know the thing before it occurs…

The first group (Jabriyah) affirmed the Divine Decree and exaggerated (in their affirmation of Allah’s Will) and thus robbed the slave from his will.

The second group (Qadariyah) exaggerated in (their affirmation of) the slave’s will until they denied the Will and Decree of Allah.

Both these groups are greatly mistaken and misguided.

The Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah is on the middle path – they affirm ability, choice and will for the slave but it is subservient to the Will and Power of Allah and the slave cannot do anything except by the Will of Allah. [end quote]

This booklet gives the reader a thorough understanding of how the will, choice and ability of the slave are subservient to the Will and Power of Allah in the words of the noble Shaikh Muhammad ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen (rahimahullah)

Apart from explaining what it means to believe in the Divine Decree, the Shaikh has expansively clarified important issues related to the subject, like Allah’s Will for the occurrence of Kufr despite His Hatred for it.

Explanation of additional issues like – the sinner’s justification by predestination, Is it obligatory upon us to be pleased with what has been decreed? – make the book more comprehensive and beneficial for the reader.

We ask Allah to forgive our mistakes and make us amongst those who are patient and pleased with the Decree of Allah. Ameen. Continue reading

How Are We Obligated To Interpret The Noble Qur’aan

Shaykh Naseeruddin Albanii
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 28 | Size: 1 MB

This book is a complete translation of a treatise entitled “Kayfa Yajibu ‘alaynaa an Nufassir al-Qur’aan-al-Kareem” (How are we Obligated to Interpret the Noble Qur’aan). The source used for the translation was the Al-Maktabah al-Islaamiyyah first edition published in 1421H. The foundation of this treatise is questions that were posed to the Shaikh, may Allaah have mercy on him, to which he responded in recorded format. These questions and answers were then transcribed, printed on paper and presented to the Shaikh who read them and commented on them in his own handwriting. The publishing house printed and distributed the book after the death of Imaam Al-Albaanee due to the great benefit found in the work since the author discusses several rules and principles related to interpreting the meanings of the Qur’aan, which every Muslim should follow when trying to understand the Book of Allaah. It is important to note also that in his biographical account of Imaam Al-Albaanee, Shaikh ‘Alee Al-Halabee counted this treatise as being one of his works. Continue reading

Are You Ready For Islam

Are You Ready For Islam: Islamic solutions to common social problems in Non-Muslim societies.

We are living in a time unlike any other period in the history of mankind. We have mastered technology to a degree unimaginable just fifty years ago. Various technological achievements have gradually transformed the way human beings perform day to day routines as well as how we interact with one another. However, despite these accomplishments, we have never lived in a more tumultuous time than now. We have simultaneously become the most capable and the most confused generation in history. We are living in times of extreme uncertainty and in an age of extreme opposites. The wealth that certain societies have amassed today dwarfs any past civilizations’ at their most prosperous. Yet at the same time the divide between those who possess such wealth and the poor of the world has never been wider. Even with the advances in medicine and agricultural science, epidemic disease and wide spread famine are approaching record numbers. Most of the technological advances we see have been transformed into the most awe inspiring destructive forces the world has ever known. If there was ever a time in the history of the Earth that man could bring about what certain people call ‘Armageddon’ or the ‘apocalypse’ , it is indeed now. The nuclear family has become a victim of these times. Drugs, drunkenness, lewdness, and an all-around atmosphere of selfdestructiveness abound and our societies are suffering from the consequences of such behavior. People do not feel safe in their homes, whether it is the threat of an intruder who is desperate to get money for drugs or the fact that any minute their homes could be incinerated by falling missiles. The ideals of a ‘liberal’ society have opened the door to all things detrimental to human survival. Children are exposed to things that they never should see at such young ages. Yet in the ‘liberal’ society, the desires of the individual take precedence over what is most beneficial to the human family as a whole. People have become slaves to their lower passions because of what is fed to them by the society as ‘liberation’. The result is decadence with no parallel in history. Never have there been more alcoholics, serial killers, rapists, and child molesters than now. This is considered to be a ‘civilized’ society. People are desperate for a solution. A solution that is neither a quick fix nor a band-aid but a solution that goes to the core of w hat plagues mankind and provides a lasting cure. That solution is Islam. Continue reading
