Our creed concerning the Companions – May Allah be pleased with them – of the Messenger of Allah, Allah’s prayers and Peace be upon him.

Firstly

Their Love is obligatory upon us

One of the particularities of the belief of Ahlu A-Sunnah Wal Jamma’ah, the obligation of loving the Companions, honoring, respecting, and following their steps and their lead. Allah Almighty said {And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, «Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.»} [Al-Hashr 59:10]

Transliteration: Waallatheena jaoo min baAAdihim yaqooloona rabbana ighfir lana waliikhwanina allatheena sabaqoona bialeemani wala tajAAal fee quloobina ghillan lillatheena amanoo rabbana innaka raoofun raheemun The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s Prayer and Peace be upon him, said: “A sign of faith in a person is the love to Al-Ansar, and a sign of hypocrisy is hating them.” [Reported by Al-Bukhari]

آية‏‏ الإيمان حـب ‏الأنصـار ‏وآيـة ‏النفاق بغـض ‏الأنصـار

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s Prayer and Peace be upon him, said concerning Al-Ansar: “Only a believer loves them and hypocrite who hates them, who loves them will be loved by Allah, and who hates them is hated by Allah.” [Reported by Muslim]

لا يُحِبُّهم إلاَّ مؤمن ، ولا يبغضهم إلاَّ مُنافق ، مَن أحبهم أحبه الله ، ومن أبغضهم أبغضه الله

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s Prayer and Peace be upon him, said: “A man who believes in Allah and the hereafter never hates Al-Ansar.” [Reported by Muslim]

لا يبغض الأنصار رجل يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر

The Messenger of Allah, Allah’s Prayer and peace be upon him, said: “Whoever Loves Al-Ansar, is loved by Allah and whoever Hates Al-Ansar is hated by Allah.” [Reported by Ibn-Majah]

من أحب الأنصار أحبه الله ومن أبغض الأنصار أبغضه الله

Muslim Reported by His authentic transmission that ‘Ali May Allah be pleased by him said: “By Allah whom made an embryo emerge from a grain and created the human soul, it’s the covenant of the Illiterate Prophet, Allah’s Prayers and Peace be upon him, to me that No one loves me except he is a believer and no one hates except he is a hypocrite.”

والذي فلق الحبه وبرأ النسمه إنه لعهد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى أن لا يحبني إلا مؤمن ولا يبغضني إلا منافق

Al-Bukhari and Muslim reported in their authentic books that Amr Ibn Al-‘As May Allah be pleased with him asked the Prophet, Allah’s Prayers and Peace be upon him, “Whom is most beloved to you O Messenger of Allah?” Continue reading

The Islamic Conquest of Syria – A Translation of Futuhusham: The inspiring history of the Sahabah’s conquest of Syria

“Glory be to Allah, the keys of Syria have been given to me,” proclaimed Rasulullah (PBUH) at a time when Muslims were facing complete destruction. Yet fourteen years later, Yazid bin Abi Sufyan marched into Caesarea, the last Roman stronghold of resistance in Syria.

The Islamic Conquest Of Syria, is the first complete English translation of Futuhusham, the ninth century Arabic classic detailing the Muslim advance into Syria. The English reader has, for the first time, the opportunity to read about the great epic struggle of a small ill-equipped band of Muslims that overthrew the superpower of their day. Events only briefly mentioned in other books are graphically described here, such as the Battle of Al Yarmuk, which changed the course of world history. The great personalities of early Islam are brought to life in a unique way. The strategies of Khalid bin al Walid, the piety of Abu Ubaydah al Jarrah, the bravery of Dirar al Kindi and many more are vividly described. The text also sheds light on some lesser-known aspects of Islamic history such as the significant role of women and Roman princes who had embraced Islam

Al Imam Al Waqidi, the great historian, was born at the beginning of 130 AH in Al Madinah, where he began his studies. He migrated to Iraq in 180 AH during the reign of Mamun ar Rashid. There Yahya al Barmaki welcomed him due to his great learning and he was included as one of Mamun’s elite. He was soon appointed as judge and held this post until his death in 207 AH. The Companions Of The Prophet

Different lecturs compiled together in one video on the subject of the companions of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Gods Peace and Blessings be Upon Him). “Whoever abuses my Companions, upon them is the curse of Allah, the angels and all the people” [Saheeh, At-Tabaranee]. As you see it is totally haram to defame or swear at the Sahaba. Continue reading

The Islamic Awakening: Important Guidelines

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/the-islamic-awakening-important-guidelines.jpg

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih Al-Uthaymeen
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 303 | Size: 13.5 MB

The Muslim Nation today is experiencing a blessed awakening in all aspects of its affairs; one that has been aroused by the efforts of the Muslim youth.

However, the astute observer of this awakening will find that there are many problems that hinder its progress; problems that have prompted some scholars, callers to Islam, and students of knowledge to lay down some guidelines that the youth of this blessed awakening should adhere to and follow. Without a doubt, the enemies from without — the Jews, Christians, and others — have tried to put a stop to this awakening, simply because they fear the results of its success and because they know that, if it strengthens, spreads, and succeeds in achieving its aims, it will signal the end of their dominance.

What is Required from the Youth of this Awakening.

Firstly, the youth of this Islamic awakening must adhere to two primary sources: Allah’s Book and the Prophet’s Sunnah. It is from these sources that they must take and derive the sound methodology that they will follow in all of their endeavours. If the methodology of the young male and female Muslims of this awakening is not based on Allah’s Book and the Sunnah of Allah’s Prophet (S), according to the understanding of the pious predecessors of this Nation, then it will become a reckless and misguided awakening, and it is feared that it will destroy more than it will build. Secondly, the youth of this awakening must follow the correct methodology that was applied by the chief of mankind, Muhammad (S), and that was then applied after him by the noble Companions (S), and that was then applied after them by the Tabi’iun (next generation after the Companions) as well as by those who continued to follow them until this day. Thirdly, the youth of this awakening must be upon one word, united; their methodology must be one, and their strength must be a united strength, and that is because disunity and discord do not lead to good but instead bring joy only to the enemies of Allah in the East and in the West.

Therefore, we appeal to the scholars, callers (Du’at), and students of knowledge in all places to forsake disunity, discord, and disagreement, and to instead strive with determination to seek out the truth and to follow it, so that they can all meet at a single point and come to the realization that differences in opinion in certain secondary issues of jurisprudence or issues of Ijtihad (issues wherein there is no absolutely clear text that leaves no room for doubt; issues wherein scholars are called upon to weigh the worth of different proofs and to derive rulings from them) are inevitable, and no nation can be saved from them. The Book Of Knowledge

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/the-book-of-knowledge.jpg

Abu Khaisamah Zuhair Bin Harb Al-Nisai
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 40 | Size: 1 MB

This treatise is comprised of a collection of ahaadeeth (sayings of the Prophet) and athaar (sayings of the Salaf) on the subject of Islaamic Knowledge. By reading the various narrations, it is hoped that the reader will benefit and reflect on the merits and virtues of seeking, acquiring and teaching knowledge. The treatise also provides a first-hand look on how the Salaf’s attitude was with respect to knowledge – how they sought it, how they learned it and how they taught it to others. There are several narrations, also, that give us a description of the characteristics of some of the Salaf, their knowledge and their virtues.

Therefore, this treatise is of the utmost importance, as it provides the reader with an account of the Salaf – those whom we are obligated to follow and take their example. And it deals with one of the most important topics in Islaam, which is Knowledge, since knowledge is the foundation that is required before doing all sayings and actions. Al-Haafidh Ibn ‘Abd-il-Barr said: “The scholars have unanimously agreed that there is from knowledge that which is a specified obligation upon every individual with respect to himself (fard ‘ayn) and that which is a collective obligation (fard kifaayah) – if someone rises to fulfill it, its obligation becomes withdrawn from the remaining people of that area.”

The treatise has been verified by the great scholar of our time, Imaam Muhammad Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaanee. He has provided gradings for many of the narrations as well as notes and commentaries that give an explanation for some of these narrations.

A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF THE AUTHOR
He was Abu Khaithama Zuhair Ibn Harb Ibn Shadaad An-Nasaa’ee. He was a great Haafidh, reliable in narration and firm in memory. He narrated hadeeth from many scholars, the likes of Sufyaan Ibn ‘Uyainah, Hushaim Ibn Basheer, Yahyaa Ibn Sa’eed Al-Qattaan, ‘Abd-ur-Rahmaan Ibn Mahdee and Wakee’.

Similarly, many scholars narrated from him, such as Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim, the latter of whom reported so many hadeeth on his authority, that they number past a thousand. The scholars agree unanimously upon his reliability and trustworthiness (in the field of hadeeth).

Ibn Hibbaan (rahimahullaah)) said of him:

“He was precise and accurate in memory. And he was one of the close companions of Ahmad and Yahyaa Ibn Ma’een.”

Al-Khateeb Al-Baghdaadee (rahimahullaah) said:
“He was reliable, trustworthy, possessed good memory and he was precise (in narration). He was born in the year 160H and died in the year 234H. May Allaah have mercy on him. Continue reading

Compassionate Among Themselves

Sheik Salih Ibn Abbdullah As-Darweesh
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 63 | Size: 1 MB

All Praise is due to Allah. We praise Him and seek for His assistance. We seek His refuge from the evil of our own souls and from our misdeeds. No one can mislead whoever Allah guides and no one can guide whoever Allah causes to go astray.

To proceed, the Messenger of Allah, (Sallallaahu alayhi wasalaam) is indeed, the leader of mankind; this is an Islamic reality upon which all Muslims agree. And this agreement is a great blessing for this Ummah (nation). In this, all praise and favour belong to Allah.

There is no consideration for the opinion of some who deviated and believed that some Imams are greater than the Messenger of Allah, (Sallallaahu alayhi wasalaam) in terms of knowledge and other qualities. There are scholars who are capable of reinterpreting of proving the falsity of all narrations recorded in these books.

Clarity of the status of the Messenger of Allah, (Sallallaahu alayhi wasalaam), and that he is the owner of the Great Intercession, the visited Fountain and the exalted position in the world and in the Hereafter, are facts that no one can deny.

The Blessings of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasalaam) extended to the members of his household and his companions, May Allah be pleased with all of them.

Therefore, members of the Prophets Household enjoy great status. There are many Qur’anic verses and numerous Ahadith that supported this. These evidences include the mention of those among them who kept the company of the Messenger of Allah, (Sallallaahu alayhi wasalaam) as they include the mention of their offspring. They also explain their virtues and excellence. Continue reading

The Compilation Of Hadith

Shaykh Abdul Ghaffar Hassan Rehmaanee
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 23 | Size: 1 MB

Indeed all praise is for Allaah, we praise Him and we seek His aid and we seek His forgiveness. And we seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our souls and from our wicked deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever Allaah misguides, none can guide.

We further bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah alone, without partner or associate, and we bear witness that Muhammad (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) is His slave and Messenger.

This book is a translation of the introduction to the Urdu booklet “Intikhaab-e- Hadeeth” (The Compilation of Hadeeth) of Shaykh Abdul Ghaffar Hassan Rehmaanee.

In this treatise Shaykh Abdul Ghaffar Hassan deals with the topic of the compilation of hadeeth. The Shaykh explains various issues related to the preservation and compilation of hadeeth, including the method of preservation, the periods of compilation of hadeeth and the first books of hadeeth.

The Shaykh goes onto explain the different sciences of hadeeth that were developed to preserve and explain the ahaadeeth and other books written on various subjects over the centuries.

May Allaah reward the Shaykh for this booklet explaining the compilation of hadeeth. We ask Allaah to accept this work as a sincere act and that He place it in our scale of good deeds on the Day of Judgement. And we ask that He benefit all the Muslims generally with it. Ameen. Continue reading

Rules Governing The Criticism Of Hadeeth

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/rules-governing-the-criticism-of-hadeeth.jpg

Dr. Mahmoud At-Tahhaan
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 24 | Size: 1 MB

A hadith (pl. ahadith) is composed of two parts: the matn (text) and the isnad (chain of reporters). A text may seem to be logical and reasonable but it needs an authentic isnad with reliable reporters to be acceptable; ‘Abdullah b. al-Mubarak (d. 181 AH) is reported to have said,

“The isnad is part of the religion: had it not been for the isnad, whoever wished to would have said whatever he liked.”

During the lifetime of the Prophet (SAS) and after his death, his Companions (Sahabah) used to refer to him when quoting his sayings. The Successors (Tabi’un) followed suit; some of them used to quote the Prophet (SAS) through the Companions while others would omit the intermediate authority – such a hadith was known as mursal (loose). It was found that the missing link between the Successor and the Prophet (SAS) might be one person, i.e. a Companion, or two persons, the extra person being an older Successor who heard the hadith from the Companion. This is an example of how the need for the verification of each isnad arose. Malik (d. 179) said,

“The first one to utilise the isnad was Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri” (d. 124 AH).

Mustalah al-Hadith and Rijal

As time passed, more reporters were involved in each isnad, and so the situation demanded strict discipline in the acceptance of ahadith; the rules regulating this discipline are known as Mustalah al-Hadith (the Science of Hadith).

Mustalah books speak of a number of classes of hadith in accordance with their status. The following classifications can be made, each of which is explained later:

1. According to the reference to a particular authority, e.g. the Prophet (SAS), a Companion, or a Successor; such ahadith are called marfu’ (elevated), mauquf (delayed) and maqtu’ (severed) respectively .

2. According to the nature of the chain of reporters, i.e. whether interrupted or uninterrupted, e.g. musnad (supported), muttasil (continuous), munqati” (broken), mu’allaq (suspended), mu’dal (perplexing) and mursal (loose).

3. According to the number of reporters involved in each isnad, e.g. mutawatir (consecutive) and ahad (isolated), the latter being divided into gharib (rare), ‘aziz (scarce), and mash-hur (widespread) .

4. According to the way in which a saying has been reported such as using the words ‘an ( – “on the authority of”), haddathana ( – “he narrated to us”), akhbarana ( – “he informed us”) or sami’tu ( – “I heard”). In this category falls the discussion about mudallas (concealed) and musalsal (connected) ahadith.

5. According to the nature of the matn and isnad, e.g. an addition by a reliable reporter, known as ziyadah thiqa, or opposition by a lesser authority to a more reliable one, known as shadh (aloof). In some cases a text containing a vulgar expression, unreasonable remark or an apparently erroneous statement is rejected by the traditionists outright without consideration of the isnad. Such a hadith is known as munkar (denounced). If an expression or statement is proved to be an addition by a reporter to the text, it is declared as mudraj (added). Continue reading
