All praise is for Allaah. We praise Him, seek His aid and ask for His forgiveness. We seek Allaah’s refuge from the evils of ourselves and from our evil actions. Whomsoever Allaah guides then none can misguide him, and whomsoever Allaah misguides then none can guide him. I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah alone, having no partners, and I testify that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger.

Before you, O Muslim, is a small treatise containing noble Aayaat of the Qur’aan, authentic sayings of the Prophet and selected Sharee’ah rulings.

Despite its small size, it comprises of that which the Muslim should know about death, the admonition it provides us with, and the encouragements and warnings related to it, as well as its effect upon the life of the Muslim.

It contains an abridgement of much of what is reported in the Book of Allaah, the One free and far removed from all defects and the Most High, and what is authentically reported from the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger with regard to Islamic regulations about funerals and related matters, whilst explaining the correct view where there is a difference of opinion amongst the scholars. These rulings are quoted without mentioning the evidences, discussion of the topic or quotations of the details from the books of fiqh, in order to make the book easy to read and to avoid making it lengthy.

The aim of this treatise is to make it easy to refer to the fiqh regulations concerning funerals when death occurs, which is something inevitable whether sooner or later, since it is a fact that the books written about this – being excellent but large – are difficult to refer to for the common Muslim, and even for the educated or the student of knowledge, particularly when the misfortune strikes and the hearts are preoccupied!

Finally, I ask Allaah, the Most Great, that He directs all the Muslims to the following of the Book of Allaah, He the One far removed and free from all defects, and the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger in all affairs in their lives, indeed He is the Hearing, and the One Who responds. And our final call is that all praise is for Allaah, Lord of the Worlds.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Say (O Muhammad SAW): “This is my way; I invite unto Allâh (i.e. to the Oneness of Allâh – Islâmic Monotheism) with sure knowledge, I and whosoever follows me (also must invite others to Allâh i.e to the Oneness of Allâh – Islâmic Monotheism with sure knowledge). And Glorified and Exalted is Allâh (above all that they associate as partners with Him). And I am not of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh; those who worship others along with Allâh or set up rivals or partners to Allâh).” Soorah Yoosuf (12):108

O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allâh. And whosoever does that, then they are the losers. (9) And spend (in charity) of that with which We have provided you, before death comes to one of you and he says: “My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life), then I should give Sadaqah (i.e. Zakât) of my wealth , and be among the righteous [i.e. perform Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah)] and other good deeds. (10) And Allâh grants respite to none when his appointed time (death) comes. And Allâh is All-Aware of what you do. (11) Soorah al-Munaafiqoon (63): 9-11

The Messenger of Allaah said: “Remember much that which cuts off pleasures:

Death. Since no one remembers it in times of difficulty except that things are made easy for him, nor mentions it at times of ease except that the affairs become constricted for him.” Saheehul-Jaami’us-Sagheer, no.1222 Continue reading

Believing in the hereafter and the reward and punishment in it is one of the fundamentals of Islam. Allah made signs before it indicating its approach. The prophet made the matter of the hereafter great, whenever he mentioned it his voice became louder and he got angery. Due to the prophet’s repetition of the Hour the companions feared that it might have taken place during their life.

Book Of The End – Great Trials & Tribulations

Like everything, the present universe will also come to an end, and it is a part of our faith to believe in the Last Day. The signs of the Day of Judgment have been foretold by our Prophet (S). Ibn Kathir has collected all the prophesies of the Prophet (S) in his book Al-Bidaayah wan-Nihaayah.

In this volume, we have presented from them the signs of the Hour and the events that are yet to take place, although mentioning very few examples of those prophesies that have already been realized.

O Allah, send prayers and salutations on Muhammad, his family, and his Companions. This is the Book of The End: Great Trials and Tribulations. It deals with what the Prophet informed us about regarding the signs of the Hour and the great events that are to take place before the Day of Judgment, all of which we must have faith in, because the Prophet spoke not from desire, but from revelation.

Abu Moosa Al-Ash’aree related that the Messenger of Allah said, “This nation of mine is one upon which there is mercy; there is no punishment upon it in the Hereafter; its punishment is in this world – with trials, earthquakes, and killings.”

Hitherto in our discussion on the unseen past, we covered in detail events that pertain to the beginning of the world, the stories of the prophets, and the history of peoples until our era. Then we discussed the biography of the Prophet (S) mentioning his characteristics and the proofs of his prophet hood. Then we covered some events that the Prophet prophesized about and that have already taken place before our century. When we gave an account of events that took place after the Prophet’s death, we pointed out those occurrences about which a Hadeeth gave information. Since we already mentioned those prophesies that have already become realized and since it would be too long to repeat them all here, we will suffice by mentioning only a few examples, after which we will return to the main theme of this work. And we seek help from Allah. Continue reading

We are living in a time when it is clearly evident that the majority of mankind are suffering from Wahn. What is Wahn? It is the love of this world and a hatred for death, just as the Prophet explained. Mysteries Of The Soul Expounded

Abu Bilal Mustafa Al-Kanadi
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 139 | Size: 7 MB

The subject of this treatise – the nature, essence, and circumstances of the human soul – is fascinating to people of all ages, faiths, and walks of life. It covers the issue of death and what happens after it.  Scholars of various schools of thought differ greatly regarding the nature and essence of the soul (nafs). Is it a part of the physical body or a non-essential characteristic  of it? Is it an entity consigned to dwell within the physical body?, or is it an independent essence in itself? Is the nafs the same as the rûh (spirit)? Finally, what happens to the soul upon death? Is it confined to its body and its grave? If not, is it free to move about in the unseen spiritual world and on the earth?

Therefore, in order to arrive at sound dependable conclusions regarding the soul, one must carefully read and analyze the available material and evaluate it according to stringent criteria. This is of utmost importance since it bears directly on one’s belief The author says ‘ In order to fuilfill this desire, I read extensively in this area from ancient texts as well as from the works of modern writers, Islamic and otherwise. During this extensive reading and research, I became convinced that Islaam, the only fully preserved, divinely revealed faith, had the true answers to man’s many questions about the human soul’

Abu Bilal Mustafa al-Kanadi, was born in Italy in 1950. At the age of 4 his family migrated to British Columbia. In 1972 he graduated from the University of British Columbia (Faculty of Arts) with a major in English Literature. He went on to study at the Simon Fraser University in the Faculty of Education, concentrating on the field of Special Education, he graduated with honours in 1974. It was during his last semester here that he embraced Islam. Having entered the fold of Islam he quickly developed a yearning to seek Islamic knowledge, and this quest lead him to Umm al-Qurra University in Makkah, where he completed the Arabic language program and went on to graduate from the College of Shari’ah after which he obtained a masters degree in Quranic Sciences. Abu Bilal has authored a number of works on various subjects and was actively involved in Islamic activities.
