The discerning scholar is adept at diagnosing the various spiritual illnesses resulting from sins, and treating the malaise in the heart. If he finds a person failing into despair, he tries to ignite the spark of hope in the heart. if, on the other hand, he see that one in a reckless and fearless state, he works to in still the fear of Allah in his heart. Thus, the scholar treats sickness by using its opposite as a cure. Ibn al-Jawzi, has collected herein ominous narration, warnings against wrongdoing, and stories of forbidding and punishment that shake the hearts from their slumber. The self-assured one becomes anxious; the heart-hearted becomes soft; the dried tear ducts start to flow; slothful becomes motivated. Continue reading

Kindness And Gentleness

Undoubtedly, the heart leans towards those who are kind and gentle. It was said a long time ago: “Make your face and your words gentle, and you will be more beloved to the people than those who give them a gift.

” Likewise, it is part of human nature to turn away from severity and harsh heartedness even if it were to come from (our Prophet who is) the best of Allah the Most High’s creatures. Allah the Most high says:

“…And had you been severe and harsh hearted, they would have broken away from you..” (Sura Aal-‘Imran:159)

The one calling to the religion of Islam and dealing with other people has the utmost nee to gather the people around him, and cause their hearts to lean towards him so that they will listen to him. Adorning himself with kindness and gentleness helps achieve that goal with the Grace of Allah.

Texts of the Noble Quran and the pure (authentic) Sunnah clearly explain how important it is for the calling to Islam to adorn himself with kindness. Likewise, (our Prophet who is) the leader of all callers to the religion of Islam and their role model is an example of how to use kindness when calling to the religion of Allah the Most High (Islam). Also, many of the scholars have emphasized how important it is for the one calling to Islam to adorn himself with kindness.

It is also of the utmost importance that a person has kindness and gentleness when he is dealing with people in his everyday life, kindness and gentleness towards his parents, his children, his brothers and sisters, his relatives and friends. It is because of this kindness and gentleness that the people will find pleasure in being around him. Continue reading

It was part of a Conference held by PureIslam Da’wah and Publications themed: Holding on to Hot Coals – Surviving as a Muslim in the West. In The Hearts Of Green Birds

Stories of Foreign Mujahideen Martyred In Bosnia

5 th April 1992, war broke out in the Balkans. Many people shouted and screamed. A few actually went to the aid of the Bosnian Muslims. Different organisations came. Much is still talked about the help given by these people. There was however, another group of individuals who also went to Bosnia. No mention was made of them. They came from near and far, young and old, rich and poor, and they travelled to Bosnia. These people were the foreign Mujahideen (volunteer Islamic fighters). Between 1992-95, hundreds came and went. A handful never returned: the Shuhadaa’ – those killed in the way of Allah. With true sincerity to Allah (Allah knows best) and an undying commitment to the Deen of Islam, the Shuhadaa of Bosnia managed, insha’Allah to attain the ultimate objective of a Muslim – the Pleasure of Allah, followed by the reward which awaits in Paradise on High, and Eternal Bliss is unfolded to enjoy. [Al Ghurabah] Alleviating Grievances In Describing The Condition Of The Strangers

Ibn Rajab al Hanbali
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 25 | Size: 1 MB

This book is a translation of a short treatise entitled Kashf-ul-Kurbah fee wasfi Hali Ahlil-Ghurbah, or Alleviating Grievances in Describing the Condition of the Strangers, written by the great Imaam, Al- Hafidh Zayn-ud-Deen Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbalee, rahimahullaah. In this treatise, Ibn Rajab deals with the topic of the Strangers, or Al-Ghuraba. He begins by listing the many ahaadeeth reported about them, in which the Messenger of Allah describes their attributes and explains their position. They are given this name because they will be strange during the Last Days, due to their adherence to the Sunnah and to the Way of the First Muslims, the Salaf As-Salih. So just as those who first accepted Islaam at the hands of Muhammad (saws) were considered strangers with their families and close ones, then indeed, those who adhere to the Sunnah in the last Days, when innovations and misguidance are rampant and widespread, will also be considered strangers amidst their families and close ones, not to mention the disbelievers.

The Imam then goes on to explain these ahaadeeth based on various statements from the Salaf. And he categorizes this Strangeness into several types – both inner and outer. It must be noted that Ibn Rajab uses several weak ahaadeeth in this treatise, which have been pointed out. And towards the end of his treatise, he begins to divert from the topic by going deep into the issue of inner strangeness, sometimes focusing on aspects that have no basis in Islaam, such as talk about the ‘Aarif, wajd, khulwah, etc. These were Sufi ideas that were prevalent during his time. Reflection Upon The Current Crusade War

Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 10 | Size: 1 MB

Indeed, Allaah responds to the supplications of Muslims. More often than not, Muslims raise their hands in prayer, during trials and disasters which inflict some Muslim countries, like in the period we are living now. How many times did the Muslims invokeAllaah? How many old men and women beseech Allaah, with humbleness? This book is an adaption of a friday khutbah given by Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid that makes a clear distinction between our dua and Alllahs help in whatever shape or form Allah (swt) sees best. Why Do We Pray

Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 17 | Size: 1 MB

Let us look at one example of something that we are neglecting and have shortcomings towards… let us address the issue of prayer – the most important practical pillar of Islaam. Slaves of Allaah! There are many people amongst those who do actually pray who fail to realise the importance of prayer, its benefits and its true value; therefore, it has become a burden on them and not the delight of their eyes, tranquillity for their souls or a light for their hearts. Many people pray hurriedly, without any calmness or tranquillity. Continue reading

The Abandonment Of Masajid Adh-Dhirar

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/the-abandonment-of-masajid-adh-dhirar.jpg

Shaykh Abu Qatadah ‘Umar Ibn Mahmud
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 44 | Size: 1 MB

This article is a translation of an essay by Shaykh Abū Qatādah ‘Umar Ibn Mahmūd Abū ‘Umar Al-Filastīnī, entitled “Hijrān Masājid Adh-Dhirār” (The Abandonment of Masājid Adh-Dhirār). Along with this essay, there were additions from an essay by Shaykh Abū Basīr ‘Abdul-Mun’im Mustafā Halīmah At-Tartūsī, entitled “Sifatu Masājid Dhirār Allatī Yajibu I’tizālahā”. Extra points and commentary by the translators were added to these two essays, and were prefaced by “Trans. Note:”. This topic was chosen due to the complete lack of discussion about it in English material, and an almost total lack in Arabic material. Along with this, many of the readers in the West may be in need of this information, due to the lack of Masjids in the West, alongside the many known problems that are present in many of these Masjids, such as being lead by misguided groups, having Imāms employed that are from the people of Bid’ah, being built with money from usury, being built by governments that are not Muslim, etc. Some other topics relating to areas in which Salāt is allowed and not allowed have also been discussed briefly in this article in order to add extra benefit for the readers.

Allah (SWT) Says:

And as for those who put up a Mosque by way of harming and disbelief, and to disunite the Believers, and as an outpost for those who warred against Allāh and His Messenger (Muhammad) aforetime, and they will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good. And Allāh bears witness that they are certainly liars. Never stand you therein. Verily, the Mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety is more worthy that you stand therein (to pray). In it are men who love to clean and to purify themselves. And Allāh loves those who make themselves clean and pure. Is it then he, who laid the foundation of his building on piety to Allāh and (His Good) Pleasure, better, or he who laid the foundation of his building on an undetermined brink of a precipice ready to crumble down, so that it crumbled to pieces with him into the Fire of Hell. And Allāh guides not the people who are the Thālimīn (cruel, violent, proud, polytheist and wrong-doer). Their building which they built will never cease to be a cause of hypocrisy and doubt in their hearts, unless their hearts are cut to pieces. (i.e. till they die). And Allāh is All-Knowing, All- Wise. [At-Tawbah, 107-110] Continue reading

Weeping From The Fear Of Allah (SWT)

Shaykh Husayn al-’Awaayishah
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 24 | Size: 1 MB

This is the English translation of the Arabic booklet, al-Bukaa’u min Khashyatillaah by Shaykh Husayn al-’Awaayishah who is one of the students of Shaykh Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albaanee. In his usual style, the author has adorned his book with verses of the Qur`aan, sayings of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), examples of the Companions and reports from the pious predecessors. We pray that the heart rendering narrations that the author has so carefully chosen will act a means of softening our hearts, purifying  our souls and permanently changing our outlook on our short lives in this world. The book is excellent mashaa`Allaah. If not one page from the 24 pages this book contains does not cause you to weep, I don’t know what will! May Allaah soften all our hearts and let’s fear Allaah as He should be feared! Continue reading
