Allah (Subhânahu wa Ta‘âlâ – Glorified and Exalted is He) is the Most-Kind, the Most Compassionate. He did not leave people to go astray. Indeed, He sent prophets to tell people who had created them, why they had been created, what is His right on them [being their Lord], what are the rights of human beings towards Him if they obey Him, what are His attributes, how to worship Him, what is the fact behind death, and what is going to happen after death: paradise for those who follow Hismessengers and hell-fire for those who don’t.

Allah, the most-kind and Wise, did not give a chance to the followers of Jesus (‘alayhi as-salâm – peace be upon him) to forever suffer, split and conflict between themselves on the reality of his personality. Indeed, He sent Prophet Muhammad (salla Allâhu ‘alayhi wa sallam – blessings and peace be upon him) to unveil the fact and solve what people perceived as a mystery or a point of great division.

This humble work sheds light on the personality of a great prophet, Prophet Jesus, son of Mary (peace be upon them both). It details his characteristics, and clarifies all the doubts about his personality by clearly referring the reader to specific references in the Bible and other Islamic sources. These have been supported with theoretical and logical proofs which ultimately set Prophet Jesus, in the mind of the fair reader, at the correct level without committing any extremes or deviation.

Before I leave you with the book, I would like to thank all those respected scholars, who gave me a chance to learn and quote extensively from their books, especially Dr. Jamal Badawi, Dr. Bilal Philips, Dr. Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Naji Arfaj and Brother Muhammad bin Abdullah Caraballo. My small contribution is mainly a compilation of passages from their wonderful works.

With this short preface, I leave you to peruse the book. Continue reading

I contemplated regarding those who were guided by Allah to be dutiful to their mothers, and it became apparent to me that their deeds were, in fact, not difficult, and that the effort they exerted to achieve their mothers’ happiness was not strenuous; and, this knowledge of how simple and easy achieving their happiness was gives contentment to the soul.

I noticed that they possessed three characteristics – intelligence, a smiling face and sincerity – which continually supported them in performing their deeds and, as a result of which, they attained success . Brothers and sisters:

In this booklet I present my thoughts, and observations of those around me who are dutiful to their mothers in order to motivate people to follow their way. Here are 150 ways of dutifulness; if you find them worthy to be implemented, then do not hesitate in this. If not, then at least remember your brother in your supplications.

In The Name of Allah, The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful

1. Choose an appropriate gift for each occasion and present it in a happy way to oblige her to accept it.
2. Open a bank account in which all of her children share paying a lump sum in order to cover her needs.
3. Understand the different stages of life that your mother is going through, and treat her accordingly.
4. Carefully select the appropriate words to use when talking to her to prevent her from feeling hurt; and, do not utter even one word or expression of disrespect.
5. Ensure that she is the last one to see you off when you are determined to travel, and show her love and affection to her; and if she is in another country, then at least call her. Continue reading

Mother’s Day A Historical Overview And The Scholars’ Rulings On This Holiday

Praise be to Allaah and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah.

The Prophet (PBUH) told us that his Ummah (nation) would follow the previous nations, the Jews, Christians and Persians, but this was undoubtedly not praise for their actions, and rather it is by way of condemnation and a warning. It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“You will certainly follow the ways of those who came before you, handspan by handspan, cubit by cubit, until even if they entered the hole of a lizard, you will do so too.” We asked, “O Messenger of Allaah, (do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?” He said, “Who else?”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3269; Muslim, 2669).

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“The Hour will not begin until my Ummah follows in the footsteps of those who came before it, handspan by handspan, cubit by cubit.” It was asked, “O Messenger of Allah, like the Persians and Romans?” He said, “Those are the people?”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6888).

The ignorant among this Ummah, and the innovators and heretics have followed the previous nations, the Jews, Christians and Persians, in their Beliefs, ways, manners and dress. Our concern here is to point out in these days their following and imitation of them through the innovation of “Mother’s Day” or “Family Day”, which is a day that the Christians innovated to honour mothers, or so they claim. This then Became a day that was venerated, when government departments would be shut and people would get in touch with their mothers or send them gifts and loving messages. But when the day was over, things would go back to the way they were, with people being cut off from their mothers and disobeying them.

What is strange is that the Muslims would feel a need to imitate them in such ways, when Allaah has commanded them to honour their mothers and has forbidden them to disobey them, and has made the reward for that (for obeying them) the highest status. Continue reading

Kindness to Parents is a very enlightening booklet by Abdul Malik Al-Qasim. He has collected several stories and narrations that demonstrate the Birr (being dutiful) and kindness to our righteous Salaf towards their parents’ needs and necessities, in obedience to Allah’s worship in sincerity. He refers from the Noble Qur’an that a man is never allowed to say ‘Uff” (fie) if he smells a bad order coming from his parents or one of them.

The author has exposed shortcomings and errors of many among us who don not preserve the rights of their parents. Continue reading

Sheikh Zahir Mahmood

Abdullah ibn Zubayr, the Grandson of Abu Bakr, nephew of Aisha, son of Zubayr ibn Al-Awwam, one of the ten guaranteed Jannah and Asma (known as the one with the two waist belts). Sahaaba (may Allah be pleased with them) would say three things; no one disputed regarding Abdullah ibn Zubayr “His bravery, eloquence and worship”. He was the first child to be born in Medina; upon nobody’s birth were the Sahaaba as happy as upon the birth of Abdullah ibn Zubayr. The Seventh Caliph, his final discussion with his mother is one of the most touching that history has ever captured. It exemplifies the bravery of mother and child. Continue reading

Islam greatly honors woman and elevates status whether she is a daughter, a sister, a wife or a mother. In the  glittering Islamic history, many righteous Muslim women played outstanding roles in the life of the Ummah (the  Muslim nation). No doubt, the Prophet’s wives, Mothers of the Believers, preceded others in this regard. They are  the most elite and eligible. No wonder, they lived with the prophet (pbuh) and were brought up on following the  Divine revelation.
