The Book Of Prayer: Salaat (Prayer) is one of the main obligations which Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) has ordained on His servants. It is the first act of worship decreed on the Muslim Nation (Ummah) by Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) and was ordained on the night of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) ascension to the seven heavens. It is the second of the five pillars of Islam after the proclamation of the “Shahada” (the words of witness).

We are presenting you a book which is, though, very small in size but is very big in its concept. Salat is the first obligation upon a Muslim after his testification of Allah‘s Oneness and Muhammad‘s (peace be upon him Messengership. Salat is the contentment of the heart of a Muslim and the eminence of a Believer. Salat is much more emphasized in Qur‘an than any other act.

You may have seen many books on Salat but this small book, which has a specific mention in relation with the matters before the Salat, is very useful and effective. The original book is in Arabic and is written by our friend captain Pilot Anas bin Abdul-Hameed Al-Gawz. More than 30,000 copies of this book have reached in the hands of the people, who appreciated it very much. The English translation of this book has been made by Mr. Abdul Karim Shah, former translator of Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh, for which I am thankful to him.

Dar-us-Salam feels great pleasure and honour in publishing the book according to its high traditions and standards. I am specially thankful to Mr. Shakil Ahmed As- Salafi, Hafiz Abdul Matin Rashid, Mr. Azmat Ullah, and Mr. Saeed-ud-Din for the special tasks of composing, proof reading and checking it with the original Arabic book. Now this beautiful and valuable present is in your hands, please read it and pray for us all. Continue reading

Why Do We Pray By Dr. Suhaib Hasan

Why does Man need to Pray?. After a long and hectic day at work, how difficult it is for a tired person to stand on the prayer-mat and concentrate on his prayers to Allah Almighty. Snuggled in a warm and cozy bed, how difficult it is to get up at the call of Mu’adhdhin: “Come to prayer, come to success.” The famous doctor and philosopher Ibn Sina (Avicenna), recalls such a moment in his life. Once cold and icy night, he and his slave were resting in an inn in a remote part of Khurasan. During the night he felt thirsty and shouted out to his slave to get him some water. The salve had no desire to leave his warm bed, so he pretended not to hear Avicenna’s call. But finally after repeated calls he reluctantly got up and went to fetch the water. A little while later, the melodious sound of the Adhan filled the air. Avicenna began to think about the person calling the believers to prayer. My slave Abdullah, he mused, has always respected and admired me. He seizes any opportunity to lavish praise and affection on me but tonight, he preferred his own comfort to my needs. On the other hand, look at this Persian slave of Allah. He left his warm bed to go out in the chilly night, he made ablution in the icy water of the stream, and then he ascended the high minaret of the mosque to glorify He Whom he truly serves.

“I bear witness that there is none to be worshipped except Allah.” “I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

Tonight, Avicenna records, I learned the essence of true love; that love which results in complete obedience. The love of Allah demands total and unconditional obedience.

Allah almighty says:

“Say (O Muhammad (pbuh) to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic monotheism, follow the Quran and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.’ And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
(The Noble Qur’an 3:31) Continue reading

Some Ahadith (Prophetic Traditions) About The Salat (Prayer)

Once Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) passing by his Companions asked:“ Do you know what the Almighty Allah says? He says, I swear by My Honour and Glory, there is no one who performs the Salat at its stated time, but I admit him to the Paradise . But for who performs it without observing its prescribed time, I may have mercy upon him if I like or punish him if I like” (Al-Tabarani).

Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:“ Allah, the Blessed and Exalted is certainly pleased by Salat in congregation”.

Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:“ The first thing that a person would be called to account for on the Day of Judgment is the Salat. If it is performed properly, all his deeds become in order, and if it is improper then all his deeds are in vain”.

Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:“ All the sins between five daily Salat (prayers); one Friday prayer to the next Friday prayer; and also between (the fasting of) one Ramadan to the next Ramadan are wiped off if one avoids the major sins” (Muslim).  Continue reading

Yusuf Idris – Why Don’t You Pray

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/yusuf-idris-why-do-not-you-pray.jpg

Yusuf Idris

Allah says: “And they have been commanded no more than this: to worship Allah, offering him sincere devotion, being true (in faith), and to establish regular prayer, and to pay zakaat, and that is the religion right and straight” (al-Bayyinah 5). Also: “Verily, the prayers are enjoined on the believers at stated times” (al-Nisaa 103).

Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Between a man and polytheism (al-shirk) and disbelief (al-kufr) is the abandoning of the prayer”. (Recorded by Muslim.) Continue reading

Why Do We Pray

Let us look at one example of something that we are neglecting and have shortcomings towards… let us address the issue of prayer – the most important practical pillar of Islaam. Slaves of Allaah! There are many people amongst those who do actually pray who fail to realise the importance of prayer, its benefits and its true value; therefore, it has become a burden on them and not the delight of their eyes, tranquillity for their souls or a light for their hearts. Many people pray hurriedly, without any calmness or tranquillity. Continue reading

Shaykh Husayn al-’Awaayishah
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 24 | Size: 1 MB

This is the English translation of the Arabic booklet, al-Bukaa’u min Khashyatillaah by Shaykh Husayn al-’Awaayishah who is one of the students of Shaykh Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albaanee. In his usual style, the author has adorned his book with verses of the Qur`aan, sayings of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), examples of the Companions and reports from the pious predecessors. We pray that the heart rendering narrations that the author has so carefully chosen will act a means of softening our hearts, purifying  our souls and permanently changing our outlook on our short lives in this world. The book is excellent mashaa`Allaah. If not one page from the 24 pages this book contains does not cause you to weep, I don’t know what will! May Allaah soften all our hearts and let’s fear Allaah as He should be feared! Continue reading
