My Prayer: Salaat (Prayer) is one of the main obligations which Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) has ordained on His servants. It is the first act of worship decreed on the Muslim Nation (Ummah) by Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) and was ordained on the night of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) ascension to the seven heavens. It is the second of the five pillars of Islam after the proclamation of the “Shahada” (the words of witness).

Preface

After reading and reviewing this book ‘My Prayer’ I am very delighted by the will of Allah ( جل جلاله) to say that the content of this book is very knowledgeable. This book can educate Muslims and non-Muslims on the topic of Prayer.

This book enables the readers to adapt the main aspects of prayer. The research team of ITEC has done a very good job by the will of Allah ( جل جلاله) by summarising the book ‘My Prayer’ very simply and knowledgeable so that people can attain the Islamic information on prayer very easily. It shows us how to obey our God, Allah ( جل جلاله) in the manners which the Prophet Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) has taught us.

After reviewing many other books I have found ‘My Prayer’ to be very outstanding in the way that it combines Islamic knowledge with practical images which are not found in many books, so people who are interested in finding out about prayer along with the practical examples can use the book to gain knowledge. I highly and strongly recommend this book ‘My Prayer’ to all Muslims and non-Muslims on the religion of Islam and how this book can be very beneficial to gain correct knowledge of Prayer.

I recommend this book to be published throughout the world and that it should be translated into many foreign languages and that all mosques and Islamic organisations should be sent a copy of this book so they can spread the true knowledge of Prayer.

I thank the research team of ITEC who has put a lot of time and effort into producing this vital piece of knowledge together in a book, and I make Dua to Allah ( جل جلاله) that He keep the author and the people who are helping in the publication and distribution of this book safe and may He reward those sincere to Him in this world and in the hereafter, Ameen! The Book Of Prayer: Salaat (Prayer) is one of the main obligations which Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) has ordained on His servants.

We are presenting you a book which is, though, very small in size but is very big in its concept. Salat is the first obligation upon a Muslim after his testification of Allah‘s Oneness and Muhammad‘s (peace be upon him Messengership. Salat is the contentment of the heart of a Muslim and the eminence of a Believer. Salat is much more emphasized in Qur‘an than any other act.

You may have seen many books on Salat but this small book, which has a specific mention in relation with the matters before the Salat, is very useful and effective. The original book is in Arabic and is written by our friend captain Pilot Anas bin Abdul-Hameed Al-Gawz. More than 30,000 copies of this book have reached in the hands of the people, who appreciated it very much. The English translation of this book has been made by Mr. Abdul Karim Shah, former translator of Pakistan Embassy in Riyadh, for which I am thankful to him.

Dar-us-Salam feels great pleasure and honour in publishing the book according to its high traditions and standards. I am specially thankful to Mr. Shakil Ahmed As- Salafi, Hafiz Abdul Matin Rashid, Mr. Azmat Ullah, and Mr. Saeed-ud-Din for the special tasks of composing, proof reading and checking it with the original Arabic book. Now this beautiful and valuable present is in your hands, please read it and pray for us all. Continue reading

Salah: The Programming Towards Righteousness

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/salah-the-programming-towards-righteousness.gif

Dr. Zakir Naik

Did you ever wonder why, at the exact moment when you stand for prayer, you wonder where you left your car keys? or, going into Ruku’, you realize you haven’t trimmed your toenails in a while? Seems silly, but this problem plagues the Ummah. Why? Basically, human beings have way more control over their physical bodies than their minds. It is very possible for us to complete the physical act of prayer perfectly while our minds wander. What, then, is the solution? Dr. Zakir Naik shows how filling one’s mind with the understanding of the Quran as well as memorizing more of the Quran will lead to a better control during prayer. Most Muslims recite the same surahs over and over, and do so in a mechanical fashion. They repeat the ayah without having to think about what they are saying, let alone understanding the meaning. Muslims must learn how to program their minds to be conscious of every word uttered in Salah. After all, Salah is more than merely a form of physical exercise. Continue reading

Performance of Salah

1-Intention (it is a determination in the heart that you are performing a particular Salah; not to be uttered).
2-Face the direction of the Qiblah (Sacred House in Makkah Known as Ka’bah). Raise your hands to the level of the shoulders, or earlobes, and say

ALLAHU AKBAR

3-Place the right hand over the left on the chest. Look at the place of prostration without lowering your head:

4- Recite the Opening Invocation (du’aa) for Salah:

] سبحانَكَ اللهمَ وبِحَمدِكَ تَباركَ اسمُكَ وتَعالَى جَدُّكَ ولا إلَهَ غيرُك [

[Subhanaka Allaahumma wa bihamdika tabaarakas muka wa ta’aalaa jadduka wa laa ilaaha ghairuk.]

O Allaah! I declare You far removed from above all imperfection, and that You deserve all Praise.  Blessed is Your Name. Your Majesty (Glory and Might) is Exalted., and there is no true God Worthy of Worship Except You. Continue reading

Certainly, many people are unaware of what should be the etiquette of a Muslim on Friday. Most of them are unaware of its significance. Most of them do not exactly consider the Friday Prayer as obligatory. Hence, they miss it intentionally. Many people in Islaamic countries, because they get holiday on this day, they spent the whole day either by sleeping, or going out for picnic or by playing cards, chess, cricket, hockey, carom board, or many other haraam games. They do not know the significance of the Friday Prayer and its sermon. Thus, they come to the mosque according to their wishes. They do not practice the correct teachings of Islaam. They don’t know the importants of cleansing on Friday. They come to the mosque anyhow they like and they wear any kind of dress which they like. They are unaware of proper behavior, one should have while entering the mosque on Friday. Most of them are unaware of what a Muslim should do before and after the Friday Prayer, what a Muslim should do in the mosque while attending the sermon in the mosque, etc. This book is mainly written to guide the Muslims to follow the correct teachings of Islaam on Friday.

Some Ahadith (Prophetic Traditions) About The Salat (Prayer)

Once Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) passing by his Companions asked:“ Do you know what the Almighty Allah says? He says, I swear by My Honour and Glory, there is no one who performs the Salat at its stated time, but I admit him to the Paradise . But for who performs it without observing its prescribed time, I may have mercy upon him if I like or punish him if I like” (Al-Tabarani).

Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:“ Allah, the Blessed and Exalted is certainly pleased by Salat in congregation”.

Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:“ The first thing that a person would be called to account for on the Day of Judgment is the Salat. If it is performed properly, all his deeds become in order, and if it is improper then all his deeds are in vain”.

Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:“ All the sins between five daily Salat (prayers); one Friday prayer to the next Friday prayer; and also between (the fasting of) one Ramadan to the next Ramadan are wiped off if one avoids the major sins” (Muslim).  Continue reading

The Congregational Prayer is one of the most important outward manifestations of Islam. Prayer is of extreme importance to the well-being of a persons religion. But prayer in Islam is more than just an individual spiritual experience. It is mean to be performed in a congregation – the foundation of a Muslim society as a whole.

In this work, Dr al-Sadlaan has done an excellent job of discussing the most important fiqh topics related to the Congregational Prayer. The following topics are covered in this work, the wisdom behind Congregational Prayer, the place for performing Congregational Prayer and the virtues of attending the mosque, the legal status of the Congregational Prayer, repeating a paryer in congregation, performing sallat al-taraweeh of Ramadhaan in congregation, women performing Congregational Prayer and many other topics.

This book is essential reading for all Muslim leaders and Imaams. Continue reading

Why Do We Pray

Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 17 | Size: 1 MB

Let us look at one example of something that we are neglecting and have shortcomings towards… let us address the issue of prayer – the most important practical pillar of Islaam. Slaves of Allaah! There are many people amongst those who do actually pray who fail to realise the importance of prayer, its benefits and its true value; therefore, it has become a burden on them and not the delight of their eyes, tranquillity for their souls or a light for their hearts. Many people pray hurriedly, without any calmness or tranquillity. Continue reading
