The Muslim Nation today is experiencing a blessed awakening in all aspects of its affairs; one that has been aroused by the efforts of the Muslim youth.

However, the astute observer of this awakening will find that there are many problems that hinder its progress; problems that have prompted some scholars, callers to Islam, and students of knowledge to lay down some guidelines that the youth of this blessed awakening should adhere to and follow. Without a doubt, the enemies from without — the Jews, Christians, and others — have tried to put a stop to this awakening, simply because they fear the results of its success and because they know that, if it strengthens, spreads, and succeeds in achieving its aims, it will signal the end of their dominance.

What is Required from the Youth of this Awakening.

Firstly, the youth of this Islamic awakening must adhere to two primary sources: Allah’s Book and the Prophet’s Sunnah. It is from these sources that they must take and derive the sound methodology that they will follow in all of their endeavours. If the methodology of the young male and female Muslims of this awakening is not based on Allah’s Book and the Sunnah of Allah’s Prophet (S), according to the understanding of the pious predecessors of this Nation, then it will become a reckless and misguided awakening, and it is feared that it will destroy more than it will build. Secondly, the youth of this awakening must follow the correct methodology that was applied by the chief of mankind, Muhammad (S), and that was then applied after him by the noble Companions (S), and that was then applied after them by the Tabi’iun (next generation after the Companions) as well as by those who continued to follow them until this day. Thirdly, the youth of this awakening must be upon one word, united; their methodology must be one, and their strength must be a united strength, and that is because disunity and discord do not lead to good but instead bring joy only to the enemies of Allah in the East and in the West.

Therefore, we appeal to the scholars, callers (Du’at), and students of knowledge in all places to forsake disunity, discord, and disagreement, and to instead strive with determination to seek out the truth and to follow it, so that they can all meet at a single point and come to the realization that differences in opinion in certain secondary issues of jurisprudence or issues of Ijtihad (issues wherein there is no absolutely clear text that leaves no room for doubt; issues wherein scholars are called upon to weigh the worth of different proofs and to derive rulings from them) are inevitable, and no nation can be saved from them. Ibn al Qayyim al Jawziyyah
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 518 | Size: 10 MB

Patience and Gratitude are the keys to success in this world and the next, as Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya  explains  in a beautiful Manner in this Book.

There is also an abridged version of this book  translated as Patience and Gratitude Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyyah (691 AH),  Published by Taha, London UK

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

By the Time,
Verily Man is in loss,
Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds,
and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth,
and of Patience and Constancy.

Our Lord! Pour out on us patience and constancy, and make us die as those who have surrendered themselves unto You.

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya was born into a scholarly and virtuous family in 691 AH/ 1292 A.D. At that time Damascus was a centre of literature and thought. Many schools were located there and he studied and graduated under the protection, direction and sponsorship of his father. He was particularly influenced by his Shaykh and teacher Imam Ibn  Taymiyyah, and also by Ibn ash-Shirazi amongst others.

Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya died in the city of Damascus the year 751 AH/1350 C.E.,when he was scarcely 60 years old, and was buried  at the cemetery of Bab- al-Saghir, near the grave of  his father – Rahimahuma Allah Continue reading

The Qur’an – 365 Selections For Daily Reading

Mohamed Elmasry, Ph. D.

The need for relevant and accessible daily readings directed toward achieving spiritual fitness TM motivated me to write this book.

I began by selecting 365 passages from the Qur’an[1], using similar parameters of length and topical value so that each daily excerpt takes only about 15 minutes to both read and contemplate. These daily readings also stand alone in terms of the topics or issues they address.

I have no wish to preface these passages with exhaustive commentary. Rather, I prefer to stand back and allow them to work their miracles in helping the reader to achieve spiritual fitness: they have been potent in the past and I believe they are so again.

In choosing the topic for each day, I followed traditional Islamic guidelines for attaining True Success, True Happiness and True Peace of Mind.

These three steps are:

1. To Know

2. To Love

3. To Serve

The first step is about coming to know God – through divine creations, one’s own being, the purpose of our life on earth, our life after physical death, and our final destination to be with God.

The second step is coming to love God — again through the wonder of divine creations, one’s own being, in the sacred gift of life, and in meeting God through our daily activities and awareness.

Finally, the third step is to learn to serve God — in preserving and respecting all of creation, in caring for others and oneself, in giving God our daily praise and prayer.

The order in which we learn these steps is very important, for one cannot love someone who is unknown, nor can anyone genuinely serve someone they do not love.

Ideally, however, the steps of knowing, loving and serving should be pursued in parallel, so that even as imperfect human beings, we can always be in the blessed state of knowing a little, loving a little, and serving a little. From there, we can increase our spiritual fitness toward knowing more, loving more and serving more. Continue reading

Conversations In Paradise And Hell

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/conversations-in-paradise-and-hell.gif

Muhammad al-Shareef

In reading the Quran, the verses where Allah describes conversation amongst people of paradise/hellfire always intrigued me. I believe that you need to learn success directly from those who were successful, so how cool is it to hear the success principles from people who entered Jannah.

Muhammad Alshareef was born in 1975 and raised in Canada. In his youth, he memorized the Quran and later graduated with an Islamic Law degree from the Islamic University of Madinah, class of 1999. He is the founder of AlMaghrib Institute through which he teaches university-level seminars on Islam. AlMaghrib Institute seminars have been conducted across the USA and Canada, as well as in Australia. While he continues to teach, Muhammad Alshareef now devotes much of his time to recruiting, training and advising other students of knowledge in becoming AlMaghrib Institute instructors. Being a true visionary with exceptional talents in motivating others, Muhammad Alshareef has also founded EmanRush Audioand Khutbah.com, and actively keeps in touch with the online community at the AlMaghrib Forums. Currently Muhammad Alshareef lives with his family in Ottawa, Canada. Continue reading

What Is True Success In Life

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/what-is-true-success-in-life.gif

Shaykh Khalid Yasin

By Khalid Yasin. Is true success in life achieving fame and fortune? Evidently not, as we constantly hear stories of famous people who experience depression, use drugs, and even commit suicide. Money did not buy them happiness after all, as many believe. The West, so-called advanced nations have the highest rate of suicide, divorce, drug and alcohol abuse, and many other social problems all because they wish to forget and escape the miseries of their life – hopelessly attempting to obtain happiness. In this lecture, Shaykh Khalid Yasin reveals that true success in life is knowing your purpose on earth and where your ultimate destination is. The grave can’t be the end. Continue reading

Part of MSA National’s “IMAGINE the Dawah” Project. Brother Kamal shows us the importance of Salah, using references from the Quran and Sunnah, and the examples of the early Muslims. A must listen, especially for those of us who are having trouble with Salah. “Verily, the prayers are enjoined on the believers at stated times” (al-Nisaa 103). Continue reading

Stories Of Repentance

Who among us does not sin? And who among us does all that is required of him in the religion? It is an undeniable fact that we all have shortcomings; what distinguishes some of us from the others, what raises some of us above the others, is that the successful ones among us are those who repent their sins and ask Allah to forgive them. It is truly encouraging to know that the door to repentance is always open. Glad tidings, then, to every Muslim who constantly and consistently hastens to repent to Allah and to ask for His forgiveness. Continue reading

A Program Of Studies For New Muslims

Mohammed Moinuddin Siddiqui
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 77 | Size: 1 MB

In 1974, the Planning Committee of the Muslim Students’ ssociation of the U. S. and Canada sparked the idea of designing a comprehensive curriculum for American Muslims who have recently embraced Islam. Such curriculum is greatly needed by a large population of Muslims in North America to help them understand Islam as a complete way of life, practice it and live up to its ideals. To satisfy this need, the task of producing the curriculum and its supportive material was entrusted to the Department of Education, Publication and Information. Through the efforts of that Department and the Islamic Teaching Center, Dr. Mohammad Moinuddin Siddiqui undertook to work out” A Program of Studies for New Muslims.” His deep commitment to Islam and conviction of the significance of education as a crucial vehicle for social change prompted him to devote his time and finish the first stage of this tremendous and challenging work. The second stage is the writing of text books which are specifically tailored to the sequential level series of this program of studies.

The rapid growth of Islam among the people of North America is encouraging and, at the same time, challenging. The challenge lies with Muslims who must measure up to their responsibility of increasing the momentum of propagating Islam and effectively consolidating and strengthening their ranks. Only through developing the true Islamic personality, knowledgeable and committed, capable of taking initiative and broad-minded, can we meet the challenge. Education is the most effective process to accelerate the development of such an Islamic personality and to strengthen and consolidate the ranks of the Muslims. It is an activating force which will enable them to substitute actions based on truth and reality for actions rooted in imitation and outmoded traditions. Education is a central tool to bring about Islamic social change we want to see among Muslims in North America. This change can come only from the actions of the Muslims themselves. To act correctly, a Muslim must first acquire authentic knowledge, change his mode of thought and improve his practical ability. These changes must result from the Muslims’ own decisions and efforts if they are to be educationally enduring, religiously sound, socially important and physically permanent. It is with this aim and intention that the Islamic Teaching Center has prepared “A Program of Studies for New Muslims” It is an attempt to enable the New Muslim to respond to his environment in North America equipped with an Islamic framework reflecting his beliefs, values, attitudes and behavior which characterize him as a new breed of men enjoining right, eradicating evil, forbidding wrong and believing in Allah. We pray to Allah Ta’ ala that this program may prove beneficial to our brothers and sisters who have recently embraced Islam. Yet it is also a good idea for all of us to use this program to increase our knowledge. May Allah Ta’ ala grant us success and keep us firm on His path. Continue reading
