A Guide To Male-Female Interaction In Islam

Dr. Hatem Al-Haj
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 160 | Size: 9 MB

In ‘A Guide to Male-Female Interaction in Islam’, Dr. Hatem Al-Haj tackles some of the most often asked questions about free mixing and intermingling between men and women in Islam, including: are Muslim men allowed to interact with female students, and vice versa, in a virtual classroom? Can a Muslim woman pursue a professional career that necessitates her interaction with men? Is it appropriate for a woman to serve her husband’s guests? Do mixed wedding ceremonies comply with the Sharia? Read this bilingual book to find the answers and more!

Interaction between unrelated members of the opposite sex is inevitable at times. Yet, questions about whether or not it is permissible, and if so, to what extent, need to be asked. Are Muslim men allowed to interact with female students in a virtual classroom, and vice versa? Can Muslim women pursue a professional career which necessitates their interaction with men? Is it appropriate for a woman to serve her husband’s guests? Do segregated wedding ceremonies comply with the Sharia? At times like these, one searches for a text that addresses these contemporary issues, based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah. Dr. Hatem al-Haj has taken a broad view of the subject, keeping in mind the opinions of both categories of scholars: the ones who have taken a stricter stance and the ones who are more flexible in their interpretation. This is a comprehensive and well-researched work, filled with practical advice, from which students and professionals, both male and female will benefit immensely.

A Gift To The Barailwis

Ali Hassan Khan
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 68 | Size: 1 MB

All thanks to Allah, Lord of the Universe, and may His salah and salam be on our Prophet (saw), his household and companions.

I have compiled this small booklet in order to show to Bralwis laymen that the great scholars of this community oppose the creed of Ahmad Raza Khan. But as Brawlis scholars have put hatred in the hearts of their followers towards the Salafis and Ahlul Hadith, if I was to translate myself quotes of scholars, Brawlis would not read it, saying Salafis are liars. That is why, in this booklet, I have only gathered sayings of scholars as translated and published by Sufis themselves, so Brawlis cannot say these Sufis translators are liars.

Aisha Bewley, Abdassammad Clarke, Muhtar Holland, Nuh Keller, Abdal Hakim Murad, Nancy Roberts and all others are all well known Sufis, so Brawlis should at least aknowledge that their translation is correct, and all these scholars quoted such as Al-Ghazali, Qadhi ‘Iyad, An-Nawawi, Al-Qurtubi, As-Suyuti, Shah Waliyullah, Ibn Rajab, Ash-Shirazi, Al-Amidi, Ibnul Hajib, Al-Baydawi, Al-Jilani, Shurunbulali and all others oppose the creed of Ahmad Raza Khan.

I have also translated some quotes from Bralwi scholars themselves, from their books written in Urdu, such as the Tafsir of Al-Muradabadi, the tafsir “Dhiya ul-Quran” of Karam Shah Al- Bhervi and the Sharh of “Sahih Muslim” of Ghulam Rasul As-Sa’idi, as Brawlis generally know Urdu and can check these books themselves.

And Ghulam Rasul As-Sa’idi quoted scholars such as An-Nawawi, Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani, Badrudin Al-‘Ayni, Mulla Ali Al-Qari, Al-Qurtubi, Al-Alusi, Ar-Razi and others saying that prophets can err in matters of Ijtihad.

So Bralwis laymen cannot deny these quotes and they have to acknowledge that all these great scholars oppose the creed of Ahmad Raza Khan.

My aim is only to show the proofs from Quran and Hadith, with the interpretatrion of these Great scholars, as for guidance, then only Allah can guide Brawlis. May Allah send Salah and Salam on His Messenger (saw), his family, companions. Continue reading

The Call For The Unity Of Religions: A False And Dangerous Call

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/the-call-for-the-unity-of-religions-a-false-and-dangerous-call.jpg

Dr. Saleh As-Saleh
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 31 | Size: 1 MB

We hear nowadays a strange call by organized groups involving some Christians, Jews, and “Muslim” intellectuals calling for “wihdatul adyaan”. They claim that these three religions stand for the same belief that there is One God and should unite in their call for the implementation of great moral values. Some of those involved call for the establishment of centers containing churches, synagogues, and massaajid side by side, and printing the Qur’an, the Bible, and the Torah in one binding, etc.

In the name of defending Islam against political and media distortions in the West, some organizations are compromising the basics of the Islamic creed through what is called “Bridging the Faiths.” [1] This is a very dangerous call because it mixes the truth with falsehood and thus practically implies the elimination of the truth perfected in the deen of Islam. The Christians and Jews want the Muslims to be like them. That is why they support this deceptive call for “unity”. Allah spoke of their attempts and called the Muslims to be aware of them:

They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected (Faith), and thus that you all become equal (like one another). So take not Auliyâ’ (protectors or friends) from them, till they emigrate in the Way of Allâh (to Muhammad SAW). But if they turn back (from Islâm), take (hold of) them and kill them wherever you find them, and take neither Auliyâ’ (protectors or friends) nor helpers from them. [Qur’an, Surat an-Nisaa’ 4:89]

One of the fundamental beliefs in Islam is the kufr (unbelief) of the Christians and Jews because they reject the Qur’an and the Message of Muhammad (PBUH) to them. They have also altered their books in such a way that it permits or even enjoins worship of other than Allah and (or) the association of partners with Him in worship. Any Muslim who doubts their kufr is a kaafir himself.

Some Muslims who do not understand certain texts from the Qur’an and (or) authentic Sunnah and may be easily deceived by the call for “unity of religions”. It is important to know that if certain texts are not clear to some, they are clear to others from those who are firm in the knowledge of the deen. [2] Consequently, nothing stays unclear for those who are seeking the truth and not just following vain desires.

For example, some may understand that the following text is evidence that the Jews and Christians are not kuffaar:

Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allâh and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. [Qur’an, Soorat Al-Baqarah (2:62)].

Ibn Taymeeyah said: “The aayah (above) tells about the followers of these four unaltered milal (Paths) before abrogation [by the advent of Prophet Muhammad’(PBUH) complete message].” [4] It, therefore, addresses those who believed in tawheed and followed the Path of Allah as was known to them. Those who continued on this belief and did not alter the Scriptures must follow the Qur’an and the Message of Islam as explained by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Furthermore, the order of the above ayah, as Ibn ‘Abbaas explained, was canceled by ayah 3:85, which states:

وَمَن يَبۡتَغِ غَيۡرَ ٱلۡإِسۡلَـٰمِ دِينً۬ا فَلَن يُقۡبَلَ مِنۡهُ وَهُوَ فِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلۡخَـٰسِرِينَ

And whoever seeks a religion other than Islâm, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers. [Qur’an, Surat Aal-’Imraan 3: 85]

Following the alterations in their religion, most of the People of the Book turned kuffaar and few remained on the original teachings of the Torah and the Gospel. This is clear in the Qur’anic texts where Allah, the Most High, says:

You [true believers in Islâmic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his Sunnah] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma’rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islâm has forbidden), and you believe in Allâh. And had the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have faith, but most of them are Al-Fâsiqûn (disobedient to Allâh – and rebellious against Allâh’s Command). [Qur’aan, Soorat Aal-’Imraan 3:110]

Following the above description, Allah (SWT) said:

Not all of them are alike; a party of the people of the Scripture stand for the right, they recite the Verses of Allâh during the hours of the night, prostrating themselves in prayer. (113) They believe in Allâh and the Last Day; they enjoin Al-Ma’rûf (Islâmic Monotheism, and following Prophet Muhammad SAW) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and opposing Prophet Muhammad SAW); and they hasten in (all) good works; and they are among the righteous. (114) [Qur’an, Surat Aal-’Imraan 3:113-114]

This party includes those who held to the original Scriptures before they were abrogated by Qur’an and Sunnah. They were on the right religion enjoining tawheed and forbidding shirk, just as Allah described the believing followers of Musa:

وَمِن قَوۡمِ مُوسَىٰٓ أُمَّةٌ۬ يَہۡدُونَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَبِهِۦ يَعۡدِلُونَ

And of the people of Mûsa (Moses) there is a community who lead (the men) with truth and establish justice therewith (i.e. judge among men with truth and justice). [Qur’an, Surat Al-A’raaf 7:159].

Whoever held to these qualities amongst them (i.e. to the true revelations), prior to the advent of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a believer. The believers from the People of the Book who accepted the Prophet’s (PBUH) Message of Islam will receive a double reward:

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيۡكَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبۡلِكَ وَبِٱلۡأَخِرَةِ هُمۡ يُوقِنُونَ

And who believe in (the Qurân and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad Peace be upon him ) and in that which we sent down before [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell,) [Qur’an, Soorat Al-Baqarah 2:4]

And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), those who believe in Allâh and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before Allâh. They do not sell the Verses of Allâh for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, Allâh is Swift in account. [Qur’an, Soorat Aal-’Imraan 3:199] Continue reading

Islamic Principles For The Muslim’s Attitude During Fitan

Islamic Principles for the Muslim’s Attitude during Fitan (trials, tribulations, afflictions, calamities)

This is the translation of an extremely important book by the eminent scholar Ash-Shaikh Saaleh Aal-Shaikh. In it are essential guidelines from the Sunnah and the example of the sahabah, on how a Muslim should think and behave in situations of tribulations, trials or calamities.

Excerpt from this book …

Allah’s Messenger used to frequently seek refuge with Allah from Fitan. And he used to warn against Fitan. Therefore Imam al-Bukharee (rahimahullah) began, ‘The Book of Fitan’ in his Saheeh (al-Bukharee) with the following chapter:

Chapter: The Saying of Allah, “Fear the Fitna which affects not only those of you who do wrong…” and the warnings of Allah’s Messenger against Fitan.

So it is necessary for us to warn (ourselves and others) against Fitan before it arises and stay far away from any thing that might take us
close to or lead to Fitan.

Such is because when Fitan arise, it does not only seize the unjust, rather it afflicts everyone. (Moreover,) when it arises, it does not spare anyone to say anything.

Verily, increase in the emergence of Fitan is from amongst the signs of the final days (of this world) as is authentically related in the Saheeh that the Prophet said, “Time will pass rapidly, good deeds will decrease, miserliness will be thrown (in the hearts of the people), Fitan will appear and there will be much al-Harj.” …

It is thus necessary for us to remind them and ourselves to adhere to the beneficial knowledge and hold fast to the Aqeedah of the Salaf as-Saleh and Aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah. (because) we hope that this blessed awakening propagates the religion of Allah and inculcates the love of Sharee’ah (religion) and steadfastness in the people.

We hope that this Islamic awakening will keep steadfast upon the beneficial knowledge because today our youth seek the beneficial knowledge and they crave for the statements of the Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah.

I, therefore find it incumbent upon myself to convey, remind and explain to them what I know of the sayings of our scholars and the statements of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah that are based upon the saying of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihewa-sallam) and Allah, the Exalted.

Verily, if Fitan are neglected, its (impending) consequences ignored and if the people of knowledge do not have the insight/foresight or prudence that causes them to (fittingly) deal with the contemporary situation or the emerging Fitan – in accordance with the commandments of Allah and His Messenger – then the situation will become worse in the future. The Ruling Concerning Mawlid An-Nabawi – (Celebration Of The Prophet’s Birthday)

http://futureislam.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/the-ruling-concerning-mawlid-an-nabawi-celebration-of-the-prophet-s-birthday.jpg

Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzan
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 63 | Size: 7 MB

In this book, Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzan has enumerated several reasons behind the prohibition of celebrating the Mawlid, and explicitly clarified the major doubts raised up by the proponents of Mawlid; and this includes the claims that …

  • Celebration of Mawlid is honouring the Prophet.
  • Mawlid is celebrated by a large number of people in many towns and cities
  • Commemorating Mawlid renews the memories of the Prophet
  • Mawlid is a Bidah Husna (good innovation) because it is a means of showing gratitude towards Allah for sending the Prophet.
  • The saying of Umar, ‘What a good Bidah is this?’
  • Celebration of Mawlid an-Nabawi is out of love for the Prophet and an expression of one’s love, which is permissible.

Additional quotes by Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ibraheem Aal-Shaikh have been added to further clarify these issues.

“Those who participate in the celebration of Mawlid an-Nabawi are of different types;

  • Some simply gather on the occasion and read the story of birth, give speeches and recite poems.
  • Some prepare food and sweets, and distribute it to the attendees.
  • Some commemorate the celebration in the mosques while others in the houses.
  • Some do not limit themselves to the above, they add to it prohibited actions of mingling between men and women, dancing, singing or acts of Shirk like invoking and calling upon Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam), etc.

With all its various forms and intentions of those who celebrate it, commemoration of Mawlid an-Nabawi is indisputably a prohibited innovation…” [end of excerpt from the book]

The booklet has two valuable appendixes…

Appendix 1:

An explanation of the Hadeeth, “He, who establishes/initiates a Sunnah Husna (good Sunnah) in Islam, he will have the reward of those who perform it after him until the Day of Judgment.”, in the words of Shaikh Saleh al-Fawzan (hafidhahullah) and Shaikh Saleh al-Uthaimeen (rahimahullah). And this hadeeth is often brought forth in defense of innovations.

Appendix 2:

A Dialogue between Shaikh al-Albaani (rahimahullah) and a proponent of Mawlid concerning, “Is the celebration of Mawlid a good deed (Khayr)?”

I ask Allah to make us amongst those who follow the Qur’an and the Sunnah upon the understanding of the Sahabah (radiallahu anhum). Ameen Continue reading

Genesis And Evolution Of Shi’a And Shia’ism

Allama Ehsan Elahi Zaheer

Before I touch on the topic, I would like to unveil the facts which are hidden not only from the common run of people, but also from the will-informed persons. One of the facts is that ‘suppressio veri’, suppression of truth or lying is a Shia way of life. They have elevated ‘suggestio falsi’ to the level of a full-fledged faith. They have sanctified a mere tissue of lies by conferring on it the label of “Taqiyyah”; but a lie is always a le whether one presents it baldly or wraps it up in multi-coloured gift paper. To identify a self-concocted prescription with divine revelation is simply inconceivable and only a psoturemaster or a Jack pudding could conceive such an equation. No sensible or sensitive person or group of people can transform sheer flap-doodle into religious faith because it lacks both divine sanction and rational expectance. But the Shias have performed this impossible feat by turning their Punic faith into a divinely guaranteed philosophy of life which relies mainly on the projection of lies and ‘supercherie’, quackery and charlatanism, bluff and mummery. Their attitude towards “Taqiyyah” is characteristic of their whole mentality: it is a reflection of the collective Shia psyche which is suffering from a chronic moral and spiritual jaundice. The Shias observe (any one who does not observe Taqiyyah – adopts dissimulation as a way of life – is not a believer). And the painful irony of it is that, as a practical demonstration of their penchant for dissimulation, these stool-pigeons have imputed the statement to Imam Muhammad Baqir.

Hadhrat Ali and his family members protested almost invariably against the Shia propensity towards falsification and equivocation. These Imams expressed their displeasure at the Shia habit of misrepresenting facts and always complained against their clap-trap charlatanism. Kashi, one of the most distinguished Shia experts of human psychology, has related on the authority of Ibn Sanam:

“Abu Abdullah remarked that there is no doubt that we Ahl-i-Bait are in the right but we are not immune against the lies of the impostors who may impute some bouncer to us and damage our veracity by spreading humbug about us as the Prophet (peace be upon him) was the most truthful among mankind but Musailmah Kazab attributed lies to him. Similarly, after him, Hadhrat Ali was the most truthful among mankind but Abu Abdullah Hussain bin Ali. Then he mentioned Harith Shami and Banan and pointed out that they blurted lies about Ale bin Hussain. Then he cursed Mughirah bin S’aid, Bazigha, Siri, Abul Khatab, Mu’amar, Bashar-ul-Ashari, Hamza Yazidi, and S’aid Nahdi and said: we are not immune against these liars; they impute fabrications to us. May God protect us against the evil of each liar and send him to hell”.

The other fact is that he people, who roll the rosary of allegations and accusations against Hadhrat Uthman, were in fact the people who caused his martyrdom and flung open the gate of dissension among the Muslims. The majority of these traditionalists are Shias. They have magnified microscopic details and transformed Lillipution realties into Brobdignaggian monsters, and the historians have further doubled up the confusion by uncritically accepting the packet of lies handed down to them through the prejudiced traditionists. The result is that it is almost a Sisyphian labour to sort out fact from fiction and reality from phantasy. The writers and historians have followed a highly whimsical line of action; they have included every insignificant and cooked-up detail genuineness of their borrowed plumes; but they have ignored and excluded even the significant details that clash with their highly volatile priorities and scoff at their spurious thesis.

The third fact is that these traditionists have not based their perverse findings on the evidence of the direct or firsthand witnesses. They are mostly based on derivative evidence and they have reproduced mere hear-say and baseless observations without caring to test their veracity, creating a jumble of unassorted evidence. Some of the examples are glaring violations of ten years between the events and the reporters of these events. The matter will be discussed at length in the subsequent pages. Continue reading

Understanding The Evil Of Innovation

Abu Muntasir Ibn Mohar Ali

Praise be to Allah to Whom belongs all power and might, and to Whom is due all thanks. He it is Who has revealed the religion of Islaam for mankind in the final, perfect and complete form in the Qur’aan and the Sunnah upon His last Messenger Muhammad, upon whom be the peace and blessings of Allaah, and He it is Who has preserved it in the incorruptible Qur’aan and the authentic ahadeeth. May He guide us against the evil that is within us and the evil that is outside us and protect us from the temptations of shaitaan who watch us from positions we cannot tell and assault us with all that is at his disposal. May He affirm out feet in the path trodden by Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions, and help us against the wretched distorters of the Deen who foist their own invented practices upon the people as if Allaah had required it of them to do so, and grant us victory against His enemies from among the unbelievers and their allies the hypocrites, ameen.

This book is to be seen as a modest attempt, a small but significant and sincere contribution, to the input of materials pertaining to Islam which set to curb and eventually uproot evil and establish righteousness, so that people are helped in clinging to the only way that affords them safety from the Fire, and brings them closer to Allah with a submission to his will that is borne of easiness as a result based on correct knowledge and understanding. Mother’s Day A Historical Overview And The Scholars’ Rulings On This Holiday

Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid
Language: English | Format: PDF | Pages: 29 | Size: 1 MB

Praise be to Allaah and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah.

The Prophet (PBUH) told us that his Ummah (nation) would follow the previous nations, the Jews, Christians and Persians, but this was undoubtedly not praise for their actions, and rather it is by way of condemnation and a warning. It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“You will certainly follow the ways of those who came before you, handspan by handspan, cubit by cubit, until even if they entered the hole of a lizard, you will do so too.” We asked, “O Messenger of Allaah, (do you mean) the Jews and the Christians?” He said, “Who else?”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3269; Muslim, 2669).

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said:

“The Hour will not begin until my Ummah follows in the footsteps of those who came before it, handspan by handspan, cubit by cubit.” It was asked, “O Messenger of Allah, like the Persians and Romans?” He said, “Those are the people?”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6888).

The ignorant among this Ummah, and the innovators and heretics have followed the previous nations, the Jews, Christians and Persians, in their Beliefs, ways, manners and dress. Our concern here is to point out in these days their following and imitation of them through the innovation of “Mother’s Day” or “Family Day”, which is a day that the Christians innovated to honour mothers, or so they claim. This then Became a day that was venerated, when government departments would be shut and people would get in touch with their mothers or send them gifts and loving messages. But when the day was over, things would go back to the way they were, with people being cut off from their mothers and disobeying them.

What is strange is that the Muslims would feel a need to imitate them in such ways, when Allaah has commanded them to honour their mothers and has forbidden them to disobey them, and has made the reward for that (for obeying them) the highest status. Continue reading

Every Religious Innovation Is A Means Of Misguidance

https://islamfuture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/every-religious-innovation-is-a-means-of-misguidance.jpg

AbdulRahman Bin Abdulkarim Al-Sheha

All praise is due to Allah, Whose aid we implore, and Whose forgiveness, guidance, and protection against our own evil and sinful acts we seek. He whom Allah guides aright, none can lead astray; and whom He leads astray, none can guide aright. I testify that there is no true god worthy of being worshipped except Allah alone Who has no partner, and I testify that Muhammad (PBUH) is the slave of Allah, and His Messenger. May Allah exalt his mention and render him and his household, his Companions, and those who follow their way safe from every evil, and grant them security on the Day of Resurrection.

Matters pertaining to Deen must be accepted without the slightest doubt. Allah, the Exalted, says:

(And whatsoever the Messenger (Muhammad PBUH) gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it) and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is severe in punishment.) (59:7)

One must follow the guidance of the Prophet (PBUH) in these matters, and should not make ‘ijtihaad’ (i.e. to exert his effort to reach a ruling) in an issue that does not allow such. Allah, the Exalted, says:

(Say, “If you (really) love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you, and forgive your sins. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.)
(3:31)

One of the nullifiers of Iman (Faith) as stated by the Prophet (PBUH) is not following his guidance. The Prophet (PBUH) said:

‘None of you will believe, until his desires are in accordance with what I have been sent with.’ (Baihaqi)

The Muslim is required to abstain from falsely alleging an issue or matter as being part of the Deen; for this would indeed lead one astray, and eventually lead him to Hell. The Prophet (PBUH) said:
